Study music?

What's good music to study too? I know I probably shouldn't have any, but that just makes me crazy. Classical music? Stuff that's not too distracting? I'm kind into folky/countyish stuff right now.

I loooove Alison Krauss.  It's definitely country/folkish and just light and easy to study with since it's not too distracting.  She has such a beautiful voice and I love all the songs.  I *think* the one I have may be called Lonely Runs Both Ways, but it's the one where the first song is Gravity.

I always study to the city of angels soundtrack. It makes me focus for some reason.

Any classical/romantic/baroque stuff (the OLD music, like Mozart, etc.), Miles Davis, Frank Sinatra or Tony Bennett.  Sometimes Moby (the softer stuff) or Portishead.  That was my study music back in school.

i go for songs without lyrics so i don't get distracted by "singing along," or songs with lyrics i can't understand.

for 6 months, i swore by sigur ros, an icelandic band that plays zero 7-ish music

The soundtrack to Cinema Paradiso. I used to call it my "Genius CD." It sounds weird, but this CD got me through every major paper I ever wrote in college. It's beautiful and calming!

this is true! Mozart & Beethoven have worked well in studies too. It actually works best if you play the music while you're learning the material and then again when you're being tested, but that's not an option all the time.

yeah, I believe it is beause your brain is somehow stimulated by all the complex mathematical patterning in that kind of music.

Halleybird I LOVE the cinema paradiso soundtrack... I'm amazed somebody else is familiar with it! it's some of the loveliest music I've ever heard.
