hey girls, i'm taking a red-eye flight next week to visit friends/family on the east coast. what would you recommend that i wear for my all-night flight? normally i would try to dress as comfortably as possible, but here's the catch: my ex-boyfriend is picking me up at the airport. so, needless to say, i want to look good! i know that i'm going to look like hell from the neck up with airplane-dry skin and blurry sleep-deprived eyes, but i at least want my outfit to be cute- without looking like i tried too hard of course! (we haven't seen each other since christmas- yikes!)
any suggestions for a comfortable, but cute outfit?? i know you girls can help me... thanks so much!!!
If you really want to look like you didnt try.. I would prob buy a new sweatsuit.. maybe Juicy or from JCrew..
Or if you want to make it look like you tried a little.. I might wear flats, jeans and a tee and sweater for layering. (You can use your sweater as a blanket on the plane.)
thanks for the suggestions, ladies! karina, you put together a beautiful outfit. i'm going to try the jeans/tee/sweater/flats idea. (even though i'd looove to wear sweats, i think i'll be more comfortable seeing him if i feel more put together, you know?)
if anyone else has any ideas/looks to inspire me, please let me know! thanks!
I think knit gauchos would be great. With a beater and a little shrug and flip flops or ballet flats (but heaven forbid! You might look 'all fashiony'!! hehe). You would be cute, but feel like you're in your pj's.
nylabelle, those gold flats are very cute--where are they from?
They are the Target ones that everyone has. I have them, too. My only issue with them is that the sole is so thin, I feel like I'm running barefoot (which is fine, until I step on a sharp stone or something in a parking lot). I think they'd be good for a red-eye. I would wear them for that.
In addition to the cute outfit, I have some semi-related beauty tips. Since he can't meet you at the gate, pack a small beauty supply pouch and hit the ladies room before exiting the security area and going to baggage claim. You could:
- bring a travel toothbrush and toothpaste
- use a face hydrator like evian mist, or I love this from l'occitane:
- I switch from my contacts to glasses on red eyes, so I use this opportunity to put my contacts back in.
I'm assuming that he's picking you up in the morning then? I would bring some cool sunglasses too - very mysterious (and therefore too much fun !) to wear in airports!
