It will definitely be along that line but do you think it'll be too formal for the wedding... more specifically, the wedding reception? Is it too much for a 20 year girl like me? I like the look and I'll try and make it less fancy schmancy than the picture. Also, do you think a white collared top like that is a faux-paux... ya know, cause it's white?
IMO I dont think it is too formal. When else are you going to wear something like that? I think it is fine for a wedding. Is it going to be in that same color? Maybe you can use another color shirt.
I think the pouf plus the length might be too much. Can you find a pouffy silk skirt that hits at your knee? Or maybe a slinky silk floor length skirt?
ETA: I actually like the white shirt, but if you're really worried about it, maybe the same shape in a different color?

Does the invitation specify dress? IMO that is a lovely outfit, and a white shirt is perfectly fine within the no white rule for a wedding. I think the top is very different than a whole white outfit. I think that you would look classy and elegant and I would be proud to have you as a guest for my wedding!
I showed the picture to the bride and she said it's perfectly fine. She said they'll be others there who will be even more dressier than I will be. haha!
Theotherjess, my skirt (if i can find one) will not be as poofy as that. I wouldn't be able to walk/dance in all that fabric!
that is one of my all time favorite looks -- simple top, poufy long skirt. i think it would gorgeous and the white wouldn't upset the bride. if you have any qualms maybe you could do a black top and a bright printed skirt, or even a nicer blue dress shirt.
