recreating a look
Permalink Closed

A few months ago I was in Banana Republic and they had an outfit on a mannequin that really caught my eye.  It was a mixture of light yellow, animal print, and tweed.  If I am remembering correctly it was an animal print cardigan, a tan tweed skirt, and a yellow top OR it may have been a yellow cardigan, an animal print top, and the tan tweed skirt.  Does anyone remember what I am referring to?  I am wanting to recreate the look for this fall.

I found this on ON website:   Has anyone seen this cardi in person?  Does it look good or cheap?  If anyone has any other suggestions I would be greatly appreciative.

I was in ON today and I thought it looked pretty cheap.  My bf asked if we were in the old woman section (because of all those cardigans and they were very muted colors).  It made me laugh.

Anyway I would keep looking for something a little better.  The colors were bery dull and it seemed to be a boxy cardi instead of a fitted one.

i remember that mannequin- i liked it as well.

it was a leopard cardi with a yellow cami underneath but for the life of me i can't remember what the bottom half was.  i believe it was a skirt and my BF said it looked very "Karen" from Will and Grace.

I saw the ON cardigan this weekend, and it's not very cute IRL.  I think I didn't like it because the background is white, when it should have been a brown color.

I was in Ann Taylor last week, and the SA showed me the leopard print sweater they are getting, and it's just like the banana one.  Of course, it will probably be more expensive than ON, but I am waiting for that one.

The look you are trying to create sounds awesome!

I love the cardigan but it does look a little boxy- I like the idea of something bright underneath- then what about doing a thicker belt over the cardigan to create a more fitted look- would look great with the tweed skirt you mention.

The leopard cardigan from Old Navy does look cheap, IMO.  A couple of the other prints didn't look quite as cheap....but still not good quality.  I would wait and spend a little more on a nicer one.  It really is a pretty basic piece that you could wear for a while.

Thanks.  I'll wait for the AT one to come out.  I have not been able to get that look out of my head.

I remember that exact dummy from BR and I, too, coveted the look. But I thought it was a yellow cardi with animal print edging? Am I wrong? Was the whole thing animal print?
