eyedrops? re-wetting kind.
Permalink Closed

ok, this is a weird question, but what are the best eyedrops on the market, or the ones that are the most moisturizing anyway?  My eyes get so dry when my contacts are in there for a while.  I would like re-wetting drops that i can put in with my contacts in, not ones to take away bloodshot eyes, haha.

I have some Renu drops that I like.  I recently went to the doctor though, and he gave me these new Acuvue contacts that stay moist for a really long time.  I would highly recommend them to anyone---I can keep my contacts in for much longer and no longer have to deal with the car AC drying up my lenses.  You should check them out.

I tried those and they made my eyes red =(  Maybe I'd try them again though, when i need contacts next.  What is the name of your Renu drops?

I like Blink, it is in a white and green box. There is also Blink 'n' Clean, but if you want moisture, go for just Blink. Also, I found switching to a hydrogen peroxide cleaning system (like Clear Care) as opposed to the multi purpose solution, really helped with dryness because my contacts get so much cleaner.

That's weird.  Maybe they've changed the formula since then?  Did you try them a while ago?

The Renu drops are called MultiPlus Lubricating and Rewetting drops.  I've also had good luck with one called Blink n Clean that sage recommended.

I bet those do clean your lenses better, but I thought it was a PITA to go through 3/4 steps at night when I just want to hop in bed.  Geez, I am lazy .  If you do try a system like this, make sure NEVER to put the solution in your eyes like you do with multipurpse solution.  I did this once when I tried out the system and it felt like my eye was on fire!  It hurt like a mo and I thought I was going to be blind in one eye for the rest of my life .

Genteal eye drops were recommended by my eye doctor because I was getting tension headaches with my eyes.  He said my eyes were dry and the dryness was creating a sort of "chafing" causing tension.

Anyway, he thinks Genteal are the best.  You get them at Target or Wal-Mart.  They come in packaging that is single use--so they are good for travel, etc.  I love them, very mild.

If your eyes are uncomfortably dry, it may be time to change out your contacts.  I was overwearing each of my pairs of contacts by at least a month or two and my eyes were constantly dry and irritated.  Just a thought.

Rewetting drops will make your contacts more comfortable, but next time you go to the eye doctor, make sure to tell him/her that your eyes are dry and uncomfortable and he/she can probably prescribe you a different type of lens that allows more oxygen to get to your eyes.  HTH!

The Clear Care system is only one step!! It has changed from the two bottle thing it used to be. Now, you just put the solution in the special container(the cap holds the contacts and also has a neutralizing disc) and when you get up in the morning they are ready!!! And thank you for mentioning the stinging and burning if you put the solution in your eyes. I forgot about that. Or.... I am trying to block out the pain! Soooo...if any of you switch to this stuff, listen to theotherjess..she knows of what she speaks!!!!

I was getting a lot of irritation with my contacts and the optometrist gave me a new brand of lenses.  They are called Bausch & Lomb Pure Vision and are made of the latest material that allows more oxygen to your eyes (someone else mentioned this).  Also, they are made to be disposed of after 2 weeks.  He thought maybe I was wearing my contacts for too long.  This will be more expensive but I was willing to try anything because I couldn't even stand to wear my contacts anymore.

Also, for re-wetting drops he gave me Allergan Refresh contacts.  It comes in a green bottle.  He actually advised me not to use the Renu re-wetting drops (I forget the reason why).

HTH!!

My eye doctor made me use the Clean Care system and recommended the Aquify drops that sometimes come with it. I really like them...they haven't irritated my eyes and they are compatible with Clean Care solution. (whatever that means...I just listen to what my eye dr. says.

thanks girls- I am going to look into the Clean Care system (if i need to take them out for a couple of hours, should I just use my multi-step one?), one of the eyedrops that is doctor recommended, and will try to change my contacts more often, I'm sure this is another culprit.  I just want to keep the eyedrops in my purse for when I'm driving, I had to pull over at a rest-stop last weekend for a couple of minutes because my eyes were so dry!
