Anyone ever work for Enterprise?
Permalink Closed

This should probably go in the career section, but I figured it would get more traffic here.

Anyway, anyone here ever work for or know someone who works for Enterprise rent-a-car?  They keep trying to recruit me. I know they have offices all over the country so it would be helpful if I were to move to another state.  I'm just wondering if anyone knows more about working there. Thanks!

I have a friend of a friend who has worked for them since college (10 years?) If you need some help I can try to put you two in touch.

i interviewed with the company last year for an internship position. internships are basically the same as a starting management position, iirc. It is a great company to work for in terms of benefits and advancement, but when you start there you are doing everything from managing accounts to washing cars to picking up customers, and i wasn't interested in that..

I "heard" they make interns wash cars in suits but this may be one of those career center rumors!

There is no way in hell that I would ever wash cars. No thanks.  I read some of the horror stories on the website Karina posted and working at Enterprise is definitely not for me.

I have a few friends who went to work there after graduating college.. most have "moved on" and one friend who has been with them for 6 years and is now branch manager at the Harrisburg Airport.

I think you do have to wash the cars in your work attire and you also have to drive to pick up the customers where ever they need picked up and take them back to the office. I dont know about you, but I am not interested in driving in a car with a potentially creepy, old, scary man that I've never met before. I think it could be dangerous...

Yeah Enterprise is a mess. I have a great friend who was fired because the managers were jealous of the comissions he made and say he shouldn't have been paid them, this was a year after he'd earned the comissions. Lawsuit is pending...

I worked there just over a year and it is true, you wash cars in a suit and heels.  I was told that before starting but honestly didn't think that could possibly be true.  That job was absolute hell on earth.  Long hours 10-12/day, wash cars, rude customers.  The pay is crap too.  I took the job right out of college because I was in a situation similar to what you are in (crisis, no job, career, lacked a bit of direction) and it was awful.  Some people work there and like it (I still have friends there) but you seem way too nice to be successful there.  Definitely hold out for something better.  With that job its hard to look for others because you are so tired at the end of the day.

I completely agree. Taking a job you hate only makes you appreciate your later jobs but in the short term you are absolutely miserable and if there is any way to avoid it do!
