Ross stores?

Ross is a chain of stores in the same vein as TJ Maxx and Marshalls. I think they're pretty much nationwide, though I've never seen one in the Northeast.

Isnt it just like a TJ Maxx or Marshalls? I think I have been to one before..

I think you might be happier at a Nordstrom/Neimans or Boutique type store. I would be anyway.

They called me for a buying job at their corporate office in NYC, not a salesperson job.

Oh well thats awesome then! I just read your Neimans post and was thinking this was as a result of that.

I don't know much about the company, but because each store is different and different items will sell different places.. it could be really interesting for you!

Oh, please go be a buyer for them!!!! Then send the cool stuff my way...I have found great shoes that at incredible prices. Very hit or miss just like TJ Maxx or Marshalls though.

Ross is a far cry from TJMaxx. Ross is nothing but junk and more junk. It feels like a thrift store to me! Plus the clothing racks are pretty empty, don't know what that's all about. Can't imagine them getting empty with all the crap they put on them! Maybe you can turn that place around!

I get a little offended when I shop in those stores when I want to try things on in the dressing rooms. I will have like 6 items and count them in front of them to show them how many I have. Not good enough, they have to take them in hand themselves and count them to see if I am trying to hide anything! So rude! Oh, and I don't see why they even bother counting since when you leave the dressing room, they aren't paying any attention when you dump some of the items on the counter.

Well, let's put it this way: there are nice Rosses and not-so-nice ones. I've been in both, but I have seen more bad than good.

In my opinion, it's a step down from TJMaxx or Marshall's -- at least mine are. They are poorly organized and difficult to shop in. You can get GREAT deals there, though -- much better than at TJ or Marshalls, especially on home stuff.

this is usually company policy. I could get in trouble at my job for not taking and counting the clothes. also, hanging up the clothes neatly is considered to be a form of customer service.

i doubt the merchandise is that bad- but if it is, even more reason to become a buyer for the company! change the store for the better!

Man, sorry ya'lls suck - come visit in Dallas!!! Although i agree that it's a "digging" situation & I don't expect top designer clothes at these types of stores. My favorite sections are shoes & home - maybe that's why?? I have gotten some great clothes there, not designer but great deals & definatley better quality than stores such as Charlotte Russe or Forever 21 type places. I'd much rather dig through a Ross myself.

karina.. a girl i used to know got a job as an asst buyer at ross and loved it.. she learned a lot from her buyer. also, they were part of a buyer's workshop class that i took last year. everyone that went there and shadowed the buyers got a really good impression of the company and the relationships that they had w/ the vendors.

side note: they apparently pay really well :)

I always button/zip up clothes, put back on hangers, etc. But if they are so concerned with how many things I brought in, I thought they may like to count them before putting them up.

They are hit or miss. Some of them are great, some aren't, just like TJMaxx and Marshalls can be hit or miss too.

Definitely go for the interview--could be really interesting, and if you were to work for them, you'd probably get some awesome stuff at a great discount!
