what should I bring?

I am going to a party Friday at an old friend's house... it's going to be an older/ quieter crowd than I'm used to and I feel like I really need to bring something with me to be polite. I would just do a bottle of wine, but the host really doesn't drink so that wouldn't be appropriate. Any ideas on what I should bring?

I should also mention that this is a guy...not that it necesarrily makes a difference, but I don't know that he would appreciate flowers (maybe though, who knows?).
