Tattoo (pic) - fixed pics
Permalink Closed

So this past saturday my friends and I celebrated "TATT-urday" (just a holiday we made up).

I got a great tat on my neck and was just wondering if anyone can give me any advice on caring for it? Right now I am switching from bag balm to cetaphil to keep it moisturized. Do I need to do anything else? (Can ya tell its my 1st tattoo? lol)

(Sorry, I know they are kinda bad pics)

I can't see the pic either, but I have a few tattoos and after bag balm you're supposed to use unscented moisturizer two to three times a day for five days. Bag balm is supposed to be two days including the day you got it.

Also, definately do not tan for a while or go swimming for at least two weeks after the date you got it. HTH If you have any more questions, just ask!

Thank you so much for your advice nunzi....so is cetaphil okay to use to moisturize or should I be using something else?

As long as the cetaphil is unscented it's fine. I always use Aveeno and that works super to keep it ultra moisturized.

By the way very nice tat!

Damn!  That's pretty badass!  Did it hurt?

I have a tattoo on my foot (it's teeeeeeeeeeeeeeny!) and it hurt like a bitch!  I can't imagine how bad it'd hurt on your neck!  Ouch!

I think the Cetaphil should be fine.  And like nunzi said, don't go swimming or expose it to the sun for awhile.  I would assume showering would be alright as long as you didn't soak the tattoo too much.

It looks good!  Cool design.

My brother used to be a tattoo artist and he recommends using aloe to heal and moisturize the tat.  He uses this on all of his (and there are a lot) and they all still look amazing after quite a while.

LOL!! Actually the tattoo didn't really hurt too much. I was the only one of all my friends (6 of 'em) that had never gotten a tattoo so I was REALLY nervous! I think for me the anticipation and not knowing what is going to happen was the worst.

But I keep describing the feeling on my neck as kinda like getting a hot stone massage - you feel the heat but as soon as you register the pain, it's already gone. Also, my neck is extremely sensitive so all my friends were making fun of me because I kept getting goose bumps on my arms as he was tattooing. lol. They filmed it because they've never seen that before and thought it was hilarious.
