YAY! I'm so excited! No more apartment. We bought a house just a few blocks from where we live right now. It's a brick townhouse with a yard for the dogs and a huge studio for me! And a basement/man cave for SO.
In related news, SO was actually offered a job out of state (North Carolina) last week, but turned it down since I just got my new job as a marketing and communications director. We decided it would be better for me to get some experience and build my resume before we try to move. So, then we decided to buy a house that will also make a good rental property, which we did. And the person who offered SO the job said to stay in touch and when we are ready to move (to Cali) that he'll take care of us.
So, all in all, things are looking pretty good. In the last 4 months of 2010 (since I turned 31), I have: gotten engaged (will be married 12/30), landed a new job and bought a house. Not bad for a few months work, right?
And I'd just like to add that I very much appreciate all the advice (and the listening ears) I've gotten from all of you ladies on this board over the past (almost) decade. I truly think many of the things you've said have made a difference to me. Thanks! And thanks to D for running ST!
Thanks, everyone! I will definitely post some before and after pics. Right now, the house is totally not decorated to my taste, but the bones of it are fabulous. It's a mix of vintage and modern (perfect for me!). I can't wait to start decorating. I already whipped out all of my old Domino magazines to use as inspiration.
I saw the pic on facebook -- it is super, super cute. It looks very old, like late 1800's -- what year was it built? What do you plan to do to it, exactly? Any remodeling (kitchen, bath, etc.) or just decorating? Any fun ideas you already have in mind?
