laundry service
Permalink Closed

I feel like it's such a cop out, but I HATE doing laundry and our dryer takes literally 4 hours to dry a tiny load so I feel like I have to do it constantly! Between FH and me, we have to do laundry every day and we still can't get it all done! I am thinking about getting a laundry service. Does anyone have any experience with this? Do they do a decent job of not destroying your clothes? How much does an average load weigh? (they all charge by weight- like I know that! I want a general idea of how much it will cost before I look into it too much.)

hmm a friend of mine looked into this and it was like $0.99 a pound but they mixed people's laundry together when they washed it plush clothes really add up.  Like undies and bras would be light but jeans or towels will be pricey

My bf did a pretty big load- probably 2 or three loads- in NYC, and it was about $12.  He decided it was too pricey to do on a regular basis.  His laundry weighed 17 lbs, I can't remember how much it cost per pound..but i remember it was 17 lbs because he was like, how much could this possibly weigh, its like 5 lbs, its gonna be soo cheap!  And then I felt the load and laughed in his face!  I was like, WHAT??  This is like 20 lbs!!!  Ha- I was right.  It might have been priced per pound plus a fixed rate.  It might not have even been $12, but it was definitely between $10 and $20.

I feel the same way about laundry...I hate doing it, and everything gets wrinkled because I never fold it quickly enough before the wrinkles set in.

We pay about $1.00 a lb at the place we use, and it averages about $25 a week for us.  I go through a lot of clothes because I go to the gym almost everyday.  We don't get our underthings done because my husband gets weirded out about strangers touching his underwear.

It takes them about a day to do it (same day if I bring it in early enough), and it's fantastic!  If I have a special request, I just let them know what it is.  I have been using them long enough that they know what to do and what not to do.

I haven't had any issues or problems with them, and I can put my clothes away all nicely and neatly folded into my drawer, instead of having it stuffed full and overflowing like it used to be.  My clothes drawers are now the way I always dreamed for them to be...
