As a truly curvy person, I was excited by the idea of the new Gap curvy jeans. So, I went and tried them on. I thought they were AWFUL!!!! The rise was ridiculously high. I'm curvy, not FAT. Somehow all designers equate curvy with fat. I do not need more fabric to cover my supposedly larger amount of fat. I just need jeans that are cut correctly, and with better stretch fabric so that they hug and conform correctly. Plus, I found that the fabric was definitely inferior, and the wash/distressing looked awful. I felt like there was a lot of extra denim in these jeans, and they made me look bulky on my lower half.
Okay, that's my rant. If the Curvy jeans DO work for some people, please don't be offended that I hate them. I just get very frustrated that no on can make jeans that will fit properly!
I'm going to have to go try them on just to see. I have wide hips and a big butt, but I have a small waist. I was all excited about a new style of gap jeans.
I tried on the trouser jeans, and they didn't fit me. But my friend said that you have to size up, so I might go and try them on again since they were on sale.
Maybe my problem with the "Curvy" jeans is that my hips aren't really that big, but I have a big ol' bubble butt. And small waist. So I stick out backwards, but not side to side. I don't know...all I know is the only jeans made for "curvy" people that have ever fit me correctly are the Joe's Honey Booty fit. And even those it's hit or miss with the different washes! Maybe all the curvy girls on StyleThread should band together and design TRUE curvy fit jeans.
I'm pretty curvy, meaning that my hips/rear and larger then my waist. But I feel like I look pretty norman, not overweight. I totally understand where your coming from. My solution - Citizen of Humanity Stretch Ingrids!
