I LOVE skirts and dresses!!

I'm really into prints (florals, etc.), not too much into solid colors, but I do have plenty of it in my closet

Shoes - I love mules and slingbacks, they just look good on my feet; straps tend to KILL my feet, since I THINK I have a wide foot.

I also like v-necks, but not too low......

I also LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! colors (the bright pinks, greens, reds, etc.) I get tons of compliments when I wear those colors.......)

texture- love tweeds and velvets, and silk..and mixing them up

structure- I love thicker fabrics that really hold a shape

heels! I am too short for flats and heels are more comfortable for me anyway.

Metallics--I don't care what anyone says, I think that this is another 'trend' that is here to stay, kind of like blazers. They just go with everything!
Color! And lots of it! Mostly pinks, purples and aquas (but you all already knew that ). But I do love most bright, sorbet colors. I don't really enjoy dark colors or jewel tones (probably b/c they both look like crap on me).
Anything chocolate brown
Skirts, especially in the summer. I have a ridiculous amount of summer skirts
Fun, unique prints (I'm still on a mission for the perfect leopard print top)
Embellishments (again, another trend that I think has moved passed the 'trend' phase)
Jewelry--I just love it (and I have since I was a kid), which is probably why I started designing it!
Anything that I can layer (like those Target crinkle camis)
Girly pieces (ruffles, lace, flowy, flowery)
Tops, in general. Even when I really need to buy bottoms, I find myself buying tops. I have an over-abundance of tops in my closet, but I guess that's what helps me stretch my wardrobe.

I have the complete opposite problem! I have a bajillion skirts and hardy any tops. And when I go out on a mission to buy shirts, I almost always come back with 3 bottoms and 1 top (if that).

Boy, some of these change, but some are consistent. Right now here is what I am draw to:

* Shoes, shoes, shoes. I am known in my circles for always having different / fun shoes that most of my other friends would never wear, that is why I like them

*Sparkles - anything embellished or with stones, I like stuff that is just a little bit gaudy. This was true before the whole "craze" so I have laid off of this some for now, but I can't help it. I love all things sparkly.

* Animal print. I know so many people hate it but I really don't care. I have 4 pairs of leopard shoes, zebra pants, i just got a (fake) fur leopard coat & I can't wait for it to get cold enough so I can wear it. I have many purses with some type of leopard, my room has zebra rugs - again, most of the people around me agree that when they see those things they think of me so it's got a life of it's own (people buy me leopard paper, stationary, picture frames, etc)

*Jewel tones + pink. This is a little untrue because I am DRAWN to black, but I make a concerted effort to stay away from it because it is all I wore for the longest time. I have dark hair & olive skin so I just think jewel tones fit me better, but I'm also in love with all shades of pink.

* Right now I am drawn to all types of slouchy cardigans / shrugs. I just started knitting so I have been fingering all types of yarn & have a new appreciation / fascination of the worksmanship of the item. I am taking a sweater class in September - I can't wait!!!

* Comfort. I just got to the point in my life where I want to be more comfortable than cute. Don't get me wrong, I want to be cute too, but I just bought Birkenstocks, people (for walmart trips & sloppy saturdays, not for "style" purposes, just wanted to clarify)! I sold all of my very tall uncomfortable shoes no matter how in love with them I was. If they create blisters, they go to ebay. I still own lots of cute shoes / clothes, but it is important for me to feel comfortable in what I am wearing. Now I insist upon it.

*3/4 length sleeves. I wish I could shake it, but I always grab the 3/4 length sleeve item. ALWAYS.

6. Delicate, girly jewelry and accessories (like chandelier earrings, beaded handbags, etc.) I'm much more girly than earthy

7. Skirts. Like ILoveChoo, I have a hard time finding tops that I like. My tops are usually very plain, while my pants and skirts (almost always skirts) have more flair. (I feel like I'm in Office Space when I say flair. Or is it flare?)

COLOR! I love red because it looks good on me, but it is nowhere to be found now!!! I also love blues, purples, basically and deep, jewel tone colors
Black. Looks great with pretty much everything
Clothes with simple lines. Some embellishment is fine, but the cut always has to be classic for me
Shoes...heels, flats, peep toes, slingbacks, all shoes. I them!
Jeans. I could wear jeans every day of the week and be happy
Skirts. The best way to look put together when it's hot but still stay cool

Oh fun!

- embellishment. I adore the little "extra" details of embellished items - so pretty and feminine. I'd much rather have embellished pumps than plain ones, for instance, or some cool hardware on a basic purxe

- jewelry. I joke that I was born loving it, but it's true - I can remember agonizing over jewelry shopping when I was seven or eight years old, since my mom always said I could only go home with "one piece" and I still have some pieces from my childhood. Even though I design my own now, I still love to buy and wear other jewelry - vintage costume, other designers' work, etc. I might leave the house without makeup (occasionally), but it's a very rare day that I leave it without jewelry!

- blazers. I love the look of a little cami under a blazer, and I like to play with color, so I only have two black jackets (one dressy that I don't wear anymore, and one cool velvet Target blazer from last season); the rest are very colorful. I like cardis also, but I'm curvy and a lot of times cardigans are cut too boxy, so my waist just looks huge, and I'm not a fan of that. Blazers usually suit my figure much better.

- print tops. I don't really do stripes, but I love a girly, floral-print top to put with jeans or pinstriped pants. It has to be a floral that I really, really like though, so I don't get tired of it.

- heels. I have some lower heels and some flats, but I feel better (I feel dumpy in flats) and my feet feel better (I have high arches and have to wear supports in my flat shoes, but my feet hurt less in heels), and I just looooove the look of a flared pant and high heels.

- color, color, color. I used to wear mostly black, but I truly look better in rich colors. I'm very fair with dark hair, so jewel tones and brights look good on me. I don't do a lot of pastels because they make me look washed out. But I love playing with color; it makes my heart sing.

- jeans. I have plenty of skirts and pants in my closet, but when it's time to reach for something that makes me feel good (and I think makes me look good), it's jeans. For dressing up, for work, for play. I have been a jeans girl ever since I was little (much to my mother's chagrin) and that has never changed.

I love:

leather - the more buttery and delicious the better.

western - think this has to do with my love of horses.

hardware - especially brass.. LOVE things that look a little beat-up and dated.

uniforms - I love anything that looks like a uniform... secretary, aviator, military

mod - I've always loved mod looks.. even though I don't really rock them anymore. It's hard to be mod style because you really have to keep it up 24/7.

I find myself chasing for the perfect example of classics constantly. I think constantly trying to reach this idea of perfectionism is not friendly on the wallet.. because there is always something more exciting and more perfect out there.

What a fun thread!

Purses. I seriously have a problem I love purses, especially vintage! I am attracted to purses with detailing like embossed leather, brass hardware, embroidery, contrasting trims, bold beading, etc. Carrying a pretty purse makes me feel happy and put together.

Necklaces. I make my own and I also collect vintage ones - they can be so bold and unexpected, and - a huge plus - they don't break a bank.

Jewel colors like maroon, royal blue, dark purple, and earth colors, especially brown and green. I also love warm gray (so hard to find!)

Shoes, even though I tend to ruin them.

Silk, cashmere, leather, pearls, muted gold and brass (but no silver).

Knee-length skirts.

Cool vintage styles - especially from the 70s!

- Clothes that are fitted very well. Especially jackets and pants. There was this very cute peacoat at Jcrew that just came in, and I passed on it. The XS was so baggy on me, I don't see why they didn't make these smaller. Also if the thighs on the pants aren't slim, I will pass on them since I don't like the baggy look.

- pebbled leather- on shoes and bags, especially brown or black

- v-necks- so much more flattering on me than crew necks.

- turtle necks- thin sweater types- makes me look more elegant and taller.

Mod, like "mod"ern. Like groovy, graphic stuff that is late 50's/60's inspired. I know I'm going to do a terrible job at explaining this.. because in a way mod was more than just fashion. It definitely expands to music and culture and art. There are plenty of books on mod history so please forgive my pathetic attempt to try and explain it!

When listing things I love, I guess I was actually referring to mod in two ways: classic mod fashion and contemporary mod-inspired looks.

I guess I just associate this kind of dressing with hipsters that dress this way all the time. I find it hard to not have a complete mod look and only incorporate one mod piece into your normal wardrobe... that's what I meant by having to keep it up 24/7.

Classic designers that come to mind are Mary Quant, Courreges, Pierre Cardin and Pucci. Yves Saint Laurent's Mondrian dress is maybe the best example I can think of as one piece epitomizing classic "mod" fashion.

Thanks dot! That was a great explanation. Although I would probably have said - "you know, like the dancers in the cut scenes of Austin Powers"!!! LOL - Sorry, that's the first thing i thought & it made me giggle.

I love that look & now I do indeed know what you mean about keeping it up - i can't imagine that terrific dress with any shoes that I currently own. I think you'd have to "do it or not". I gotcha. Thanks for the education!
