Split travel expense?

A friend and I are traveling to another city (about 1 1/2 hours away) to freelance for a wedding party. The bride sent me the check in the mail today and included $100 for travel. I will be driving, but am just wondering if I need to keep the entire amount or keep enough for gas money and split the rest with my friend. The only other thing to consider is that not only am I using gas, but I'm also putting miles on my car. So do I still just keep enough for gas and then split, or what? Thanks.

let me get this straight:


you and your friend are driving your car to the wedding to freelance, then back home at the end of the wedding- correct?


if so, then you keep 100 % of the travel expenses b/c it was your car, your mileage and your gas.

i think standard is $.37-$.40 per mile plus the cost of gas.
