This it totally random but hopefully someone has suggestions. I want to find a cereal that is sort of like Smart Start but not sweet. So basically I would like something with a combination of bran/multigrain flakes and clusters and without fruit. I bought a Weight Watchers cereal that didn't have any honey or sweeteners in it but there was something kind of gross about it. And I know I tried one of the Kashi things and wasn't into it either. I feel like I spend a half hour in the cereal aisle looking at boxes and checking the ingredients!
Maybe there's no perfect cereal out there waiting for me but if you have any ideas I would be most grateful.
I really like Hearty Morning by Cascadian Farms...it's organic...but most large grocery stores seem to carry it. The only thing is, I'm not really sure how it would stand up to milk...I usually eat cereal dry or in yogurt
sweater girl, I'll check out Cascadian Farms. I'm sure one of my supermarkets carries it.
dot - I looked at the Heart Healthy cereal but the "honey toasted" aspect made me fear it would be sweet. I looove Complete Wheat Bran but I want something with more variety. Maybe I'll see if I can buy plain things separately and then combine then. Honey Bunches is definitely too sweet. I like plain cereals like Cheerios and Chex and bran flakes.
I love Kashi Go Lean Crunch with fresh fruit in it. I tried the Puffed Kashi but just didn't like it. I don't know which one you tried but the Crunch one has clusters. The regular Go Lean doesn't.
Edit: Not sure if you are near a wholefoods but on the aisle with the stuff you put in bags yourself they have cereal. You can taste it before you buy it.
cc- have you checked out barbara's? my favorite cereals. i love barbara's shredded oats, shredded spoonfuls, basically anything by that brand. they're healthy, low fat, and so delish.
Thanks guys! I love cereal and eat it constantly and sometimes I just want something with a little more variety. There's a Whole Foods near my sister's so I will go check out their selection.
i remember when i was taking nutrition in college my professor kept on going on and on about multigrain cherrios and how good it was for you with all the fiber, etc....HTH!

Yesss! Bad cereal is the best! Sometimes having some naughty cereal is better then candy! Some of my personal favorties are: Lucky Charms Cookie Crisp Cinnamon toast crunch
I can go through a box in like a day from eating it in the AM with milk, out of the box as a snack while watching tv, and then again before bed (cereal is one of my fav deserts!)
I am sooo bad!!!!
For healthy cereals though I like Honey nut cheerios, Oh's, honey bunches of oats, and clusters
I've actually been meaning to post an update. I bought a box of Cascadian Farms Healthy Morning which is bran flakes and oat clusters and some of those twig-like things and it is good and not sweet. I'll have to look for Fiber One too!
