Co Worker Opened Mail - Mad, but kind of funny
Permalink Closed

I recently moved from my apt & my co-worker moved into my old place.  I had not received my August issue of Lucky @ my current place & I kept asking her if maybe they had mailed there.  She said I had received several mags but was unsure if Lucky was one of them.  Well fast forward 3 weeks Friday, she finally brings my mail.  I found it kind of odd that she only brought me 1 magazine but not the 'several' she said I received.  I didn't question her anymore because I was glad that @ least she brought my Lucky.  Towards the end of the day I got kind of bored so I stated flipping through the issue & I got to the page were all the Yes, No, & Maybe Stickers are and they were all gone!  One of the perfume sample pages was super wrinkled.  Ick!  Then I remembered my Lucky mag comes wrapped in plastic w/the address label on the bag & my magazine was unwrapped w/no label!  By this time she had already gone home for the day.  I was sooooooooooo mad, not because of the stickers (even though I love to mark the pages instead of folding) but because she opened my mail!  I know its just a magazine but it was mailed wrapped.  I wonder what else she opened since she had said I gotten a lot of stuff at my old address weeks earlier & then claimed I didn't get anything on Friday.  Maybe she had relatives over & they took all the stickers, but if it were me I would have at least given me an explanation of why it was opened.  Well, now I look back & feel sorry for her & it's kind of funny.  She's always asking me where I get my stuff & what I read online, so maybe she was curious why I was always asking her for my Lucky mag.  She even ripped out the subscription page with fill in cards.

Needless to say she never gave me my Parents mag either, I think her sister took that one, she's expecting, so I guess she figured she needed it more than I do.

I'm sorry, but thats just wrong! she should have asked you if  she could open them up and look through them before handing them to you, or asked to see them after you were done with Lucky. as for the Parents mag. you should ask about it, she should not be handing out your personal mail to others. gee- this is just wrong what shes doing, very ghetto of her!Hurry up and make sure you call all the mags and the rest of you mail to make sure they have your current address so you wont have to be running into this problem.

Not that you should take legal action or anything, but isn't tampering with someone else's mail a federal offense?  I would be highly annoyed with her behavior.

Friday I was livid, to say the very least & believe me I was going to say something to her today, but over the weekend my hubby told me to just let it go, take it as a lesson learned & make sure ALL my stuff is being sent to the correct address.

On the other hand, you gals may just encourage me to just tell her . . . & like I said maybe it could have been her nieces visiting & she didn't know, but she still should have said *something*  like, "Hey - my nieces accidently opened your mags cuz they thought they were mine, Im sorry." KWIM?

your husbands right to let it go, not too big of a deal. But us girls are right too! If you dont tell her something shes going to think you never took notice and keep opening your mail and giving away your mag's. Just mention something casualy, enough to where she knows you know. am I making sense here?

oh, and your husband said "lesson Learned"? how about trusting a friend (co -worker) not to go through your stuff and giving it ALL to you?

That would make me really mad (just like you were on Friday....) I would definitely say something, obviously not in a rude way though, and I'd ask where my Parents magazine was (and all the others....just to let her know that you know exactly what you get for mail and that you are still expecting it.)

honestly, annoying, but not a big deal.  It's just a magazine, I might open my friends or coworkers magazine and flip through it, though I would probably mention it to them if I took all their stickers.  If she's opening your letters, then I'd be worried.  But ask about your other magazines, she'll probably give them to you if she brought in the Lucky.

Did you fill out the mail-forwarding card at the post office? If so, she shouldn't still be getting any of your mail. I think the Post Office gives you six months of forwarding service.

Anyway, I'd be peeved at this lady because you KNOW she's got more of your mail. You shouldn't have to ASK her to bring your mail to you, she should do it as soon as she gets any. It's just wrong.
