Summer Fun! What are you doing this summer?

I think we talked about vacations but what are you doing / planning to do these slow summer days?

I have been:

  • playing tennis
  • reading Harry Potter
  • grilling on my balcony
  • going to the park
  • taking day trips to the beach
  • making fun summer cocktails


I would like to:

  • go camping because I haven't been in years
  • Go to Cold Stone Creamery
  • Make ribs
  • Go see the Chanel exhibit at the Met

Unfortunately, my vacation plans were foiled due to my job change, but I still have some mini-vacay's planned.  I've been or plan to:



  • go to the beach for two or three weekends in August
  • Summer parties! There's nothing quite like them.  I also plan to host an end of summer luau.
  • Eating dinner al fresco. Love it.
  • Seeing movies almost every weekend. Gotta love all those summer blockbusters
  • Catching up with old friends now that I finally have weekends off.
  • Eating water ice every single night!

  • I want to catch a Phillies game if possible, but haven't done that yet.

between work and summer classes I don't have a lot of free time, but:



  • play tennis

  • go for bike rides

  • picnics in the park (my favorite!!)

  • read mindless books on my balcony (in the 3 weeks I don't have class and thus have time to read fun stuff)

  • go to the beach for a weekend

  • go to NY for a weekend (and yes, catch the chanel exibit)

  • go to my graduation! yay! even though I still have one more semester, so it's kind of dumb.

After work I do not have much time...but things I am going to try to do are..
-Knitting a baby blanket for my new neice
-start exercising again.
-cleaning the guest bedroom...now it is full of my old boxes of things from the old house
-clean out my closet...it is getting tooo full
-go to a few more cubs games

I do not have time for much else

My life is pretty mundane and suburban, but it makes me happy.  Here's what I'm doing/have done this summer:


  • Going to my parents' condo at Lake Norman (Charlotte, NC)
  • Seeing movies
  • Getting the house painted
  • Painting the guest bedroom
  • Doing a ton of work in our backyard
  • Going to San Diego for a week next month!!!
  • Having plenty of beers on the deck at the bar down the street
  • Reading Gabriel Garcia Marquez's autobiography (my favorite author ever)


That's about it!  I need to start exercizing more but its too bloody hot!

Oh, I have more to add!



  • Reading tons of Chicklit---I call them my 'Mindless Summer Reads'

  • Painting the house (this is not one of my fun summer activities)

  • Walking around town, going to the art galleries and boutiques

  • Attending First Thursday events in my town (the first Thursday of every month during the summer they shut down the main street in my town and there are arts & crafts vendors, street performers and food). So much fun.

  • Going to the Music Festival and Restaurant Festival in my town

i don't think i answered the first one:



  • entertaining EVERYONE this summer (3 18 yr. olds next weekend....i'm excited about them though!)

  • i just got back from pop. 300 town in mn. visiting my 89 yr. old grandma (possibly going back in sept.). and caught a TON of fish and ate them!

  • going back to the old college to visit friends for labor day weekend (hitting up the last weekend at the NJ shore).

  • volunteering camping trip in TN mid-sept. to clean up trails, etc... (i'm nervous cuz it's all my bf's work friends and i'm the youngest by far!)

day to day:



  • just got back into my regular gym visits (kinda stopped when i got mono)

  • going to the beach and buying a mag. on the way there (by the time i finish the mag, it means that i had enough sun)

  • riding my bike

  • volunteering at a free clinic (it makes me feel sooo good!)

  • working at bcbg on my "days off" (i don't consider that job "work")

  • grilling a ton

  • going to cubs games

  • exploring the city (i moved here about a year ago, and i still find myself telling people that i just moved to chicago).

  • eating sherbert and fudgesicles

  • enjoying the ac!

  • taking summer school classes (3, but i finish next week, yay!)

  • vegas 2x

  • beach starting this weekend... it's been overcast where i live prior to this week but today it's hot at blazes so i think this weekend should be good for the beach

  • Spending wayyy to many hours poolside with Hot Neighbor.
  • Going to so many baseball games that I'm now BFF with the mascot.
  • Working on my catalog.  I'm nearly done!!
  • Looking for dates!  Being single is getting bo-ring.
  • Trying to convince my friends that it'd be really fun to have smores on a picnic blanket in the park.  Gosh, how could that NOT be a good time?  I'll even throw in some yummy champagne!
  • Organizing a city wide scavenger hunt to make up for the G smores picnic in the park.
  • Planning on touring a winery or at least attending a wine tasting event somewhere in town.
  • In two weeks, I'm floating the river down in San Marcos, Tx.  I'm sooooooo excited!  This will be me:

Hopefully I won't nearly die this year.  Also, I've persuaded my brother to let me stop and shop til I drop in the outlets around there before we leave.  Yay!

Ok, here's mine...



  • Go to the shore, sorry I'm in Jersey (NJ) so it's the shore

  • Read...I did Harry Potter but I am loving a few other things

  • Go to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, I love the Water Taxi!

  • Sit out at night and drink wine and look at the stars

  • Go to some botanical gardens, I LOVE Longwood Gardens!

  • Sleep if I ever get the chance

  • Hang out in my pool

I got 2 more weeks!!!!!


So far I have:


-Gone to Mexico for 6 weeks


-gym/excercise at home


-read 2 books 3 if you count the George Lopez bio


-shopped


-made bracelets (tons)


Need to:


-shop (more)


-go to Six Flags


-go to Sea World


-celebrate sisters b-day tomorrow


-read one more book for school (try to)


-keep on doing my excercises
