Please help me think up an outfit that would work for a casual-ish Friday evening wedding I am attending next week.  The only catch-it can't be a dress.  Dresses never work for me so I need a top and a skirt of some kind and I want to wear these Burberry pumps.  Help!

How about a black satiny pencil skirt and a great jewel colored blouse on top to dress up the outfit a little, in lieu of wearing a dress.  Maybe a nice red or coral would work good with the shoes.  Some chunky strands of pearls to complete the ensemble.

I agree on a pencil black skirt, love gem colors for tops, but I don't thing that gem colors will go with those shoes, maybe a cream top or grey or tan? something flowy/silk satin or schiffon?

Navy blue might look nice with those shoes. I love the idea of a pencil skirt and a silk top.

To be honest I'm having a hard time thinking up things because those pumps seem more officey/brunchy than weddingy to me.

ITA especially if paired with a skirt/shirt combo instead of a dress.

The wedding will be more casual than normal because it is a second wedding so I am figuring I'll probably be dressed up wearing any kind of heels.  We are talking "wedding in a barn" like Pollyjean referenced in her wedding attire post.

I did buy a top at White House Black Market today but I can't find it online.  It is black wrap top with sort of ruffled short sleeves which I think I will wear with a pencil skirt because I like that idea.  Once I try it on I will decide if the shoes will work or not.  I also have black peep-toe Louboutins but I think they will be too dressy?  I'll have to try them both and then decide.

Thanks for the ideas-you guys are great as always!

I like the idea of your black wrap top and a black pencil skirt with the shoes.

And it's OK to be a little "too dressy" even for a casual wedding. Just as long as you aren't dressier than the bride you'll be fine.
