This October (1st and 2nd) I will be particpating in Avon breast Cancer walk in NYC.With the permission of Kris I am posting the link to my web page.Any donations are very much apppreciated.

BTW: I'm walking for my friend , Dawn who was diagnosed wit breast cancer a few months ago (stage 4).She is only 34 so it kinda hit home because she is only ten years older than me.

Words of encouragement are also helpful as this thing is stretched over 2 days!

Update!

You ladies are so very supportive!I thought I'd give you an update on my fundraising.Friday and Saturday the SA's at my job can pay $2 a day to dress down (we usually have to wear hosiery, etc and damn near fry in this heat!).I'll let you know how particpation went!

Thanks again!

Thank you for volunteering to raise funds for breast cancer research.  My mother has breast cancer, and I am very high risk, so I applaud you for your efforts   Good luck!

That was me I guess I was surprised that only 4 of us have made a donation and thought more people needed to see it...

Hey ladies - these funds will go toward research that could potentially save your life one day - and with the hundreds and thousands of dollars we spend on clothes/bags/shoes/jewelry, 5 bucks - even a dollar - is nothing. Plus, your donation is tax deductible...

Yay! Good for you!

I have just one little piece of advice for your walk: if you don't already have one, get a camelback. It's the easiest/least straining way to carry a ton of water, IMO.

THANKS TO ALL YOU LADIES! I'm not sure what a camel back is?

BTW: Any recs for a decent sneaker?I currently have nike shox.I probably should opt for something a little lighter? What do you ladies think?I'll be running/walking.

AND..............Although it's for a good cause you wouldn't want me lookin shabby with my pink shirt would ya? Make sure there are at least a teeny but cute.

Ok ladies now your gonna think I'm vain..........................

carmenb513: here's a pic of a camelback. there are tons of different ones that hold different amounts of water and some even strap around your waist. you can do a search on rei.com under "hydration packs". they are the best! there is a little tube that you can clip near your shoulder and when you're thirsty just turn your head and sip. i use mine all the time when i go mountain biking.

also, i wanted to say good luck on your walk. i have at least one friend that does it every year and i always donate to them. (i'd do the walk myself, but i'd rather give money than raise money... something i'm very bad at)

Finally got around to doing this - thanks for participating - my nanny (mom's sister) is a breast cancer survivor so I guess that puts me in a higher risk category too. Good luck to you!
