Candy for gumball machine
Permalink Closed

I work at a youth talent agency. My boss (one of the agents) just got a vintage gumball machine very much like this one.

Red 15 inch Vintage Vendor with Stand Gumball / Bulk Candy Vending Machine

She's wanted one for years and she finally has it. It's so cute but we can't get any other kind of candy to work. We tried M&Ms and Whoppers already...they fall through the opening. Tootsie Rolls worked, but who wants Tootsie Rolls from a gumball machine?

What would you put in a gumball machine besides gumballs (and Tootsie Rolls)? Please help...none of us are candy experts. We just wnat something that the kids will like and that won't get smooshed in the machine.

Thanks so much!

Not much will work in that thing.  You could try jawbreakers. Don't do chocolate because it will melt in the machine.

Do you have a store like this in your local mall?

I can't think of much off hand, but looking at one of the pictures reminded me of Jordan almonds, which I love. But you may have the same fall through problem. I'd go check it out because they have had every strange candy request I've ever had (specifically gummy sharks & bottlecaps in the roll which are hard to find for some reason!)

I was also thinking those large jawbreakers...

oooh....sour fruit chews.  They look like gumballs, but you can actually eat them.  I only get them on my birthday because I have a tendency to double-fist them when I get some.

Yummy--Cherry Sours are my FAVORITE.

It's an office and we are worried about 5 year old kids potentially sticking gum all over the place. Technically gum chewing is not allowed in the office at all. Plus, my boss is a choclate addict and dreams of putting chocolately things in the gumball machine so she can get her fix.

Do those little plastic balls that you put toys in fit in there?  Maybe you could put those in and fill each ball with different packets of candy like you would get at halloween- little candy corn packets, little jelly bean packets, little m & m packets...

What about Hot Tamales?  Mmm--my favorite!  They will  work in a gumball machine, I've seen them.
