VENT! My Cable service provider

Hi gals this is my first time venting here.  I hope y'all don't mind.  I apologize in advance for the run-ons, I'm very upset!


I just moved into a community apartment complex.  This complex only allows a vendor of Direct TV to install cable service so I couldnt transfer over my regular provider.  I called "CSS" the girl told me I could either go through them or DirectTV for service.  I figured why pay an extra $8 mo. to go through a 2nd party, so I called last Friday for Direct TV to come out.  The earliest they could come out was today 7/7 & intallation was free, so whatever, I waited.  I was having a bad feeling about this cuz I was told I didn't need a satellite dish cuz all the buildings have a main one, so I called 2 more times to confirm DTV was going to be able to install.  TODAY the install. guy calls me at work asking me what to do????  WTF!?  Um you should know how to do your job, not me!  I explain the whole "main dish on the building" thing & apparently he went to the complex office & they explained the same thing, & he just LEFT!  He didnt have my mom (who took the time to drive to my place & wait for him) sign anything or tell her he was leaving! He left me a message at my office to call DTV & cancel cuz he cant install a dish! DUH!  The guy had broken english so I doubt he understood a word I said.  I called DTV to complain & now they can't find any record of me or the acct.  The girl sounded lazy so I hung up & called back & spoke to a very nice woman who finally explained they CANT install, I have to call the 2nd vendor as they operate the systems in my complex. UGGGGGGGGGGHHHHH!  Why did they not tell me that when I called 3 times (or was it 4?) to confirm this???? I just wasted a week of my time dealing w/this & now Im back to square 1?  So I call CSS to complain that because of their misinformation from their rep I lost 1 week of time & more cuz now I have to wait for them to come out & do their thing.  The girl says, "what is the girls name who said this?" What does it matter? I just told her all the info she told me, so she knows I did call, and she did nothing to make my situation better.  All she said was the soonest they could come out to transfer the signal is next week on Tuesday!!!!


Sorry so long, I just had to get it out, since I can't scream in the office.

how incredibly frustrating! and your poor mom too!  apt. complexes and their cable/dish issues suck soo much!  sorry you had to go through that but feel free to vent anytime!

This happens with cable companies. I have heard so many stories about cable people who don't show up, who say they were there and weren't, I know people who have wasted entire vacation days waiting for the freakin cable person. I refuse to get cable because I am convinced the cable companies are evil empires.

BargainQueen, i feel your pain. i went through this last week with directtv, and it sucked. the thing is they outsource their contractors (outsourcing is such a bad idea) and you never know who you're going to get. it took 2 weeks, innumerable angry phone calls, $90 in service calls (which were taken off my bill), and 3 different people coming to my home b/f i got my tv back. the really sad thing, is now that it's working again, i barely watch it.
