Yes, very strange boy indeed.  I found out he was scared of vegetables because I suggested going to Chipotle because I love their guacamole, so I suggested getting it.  He said, and I quote, "Oh wow, guacamole...hmm, I don't know about avocados.  They're scary.  I'm scared of most vegetables."  Sort of rocking back in forth in the booth.  He was very kiddish through the whole thing, and I couldn't wait to run away.  He had his Weezer lunchbox with him as a manpurse so I asked him about it and he told me his obsession with Weezer.  The sad thing is that he is really cute actually and before I heard his strange lispish kiddy voice and got to know him, I had a crush on him.  He looks like Cliff from Bring it On, it pains me to type that.

ETA: another thing he said that turned me off- this isn't meant to offend anyone.  He kept calling himself a "cheap jew" and saying he was so cheap because he was jewish.  He was trying to be funny, but no, didn't work.  Did not work at alllllllllll.

This is my opinion and I do not consider it to be old fashioned, just polite and gentlemanly, but I say that if he asks you out, he should take care of the bill 100%.  If he's low on cash, a date could kindly ,let you know this before the two of you decide to go somewhere and that way you can always mutually decide to split the cost if you want to go somewhere that he can't afford both of you.

Since you did lose the bet on paying for the movie, that's fine, but I too would have totally expected him to cover the meal and anything else.

What to do....I say give him another shot, if he asks you to split the bill again, act surprised, but I wouldn't go so far as to say why, there's not really a polite way to do so....and anyway he should already know that most men of class do pay for their dates, I don't know who he has been dating before you, maybe he had a serious girlfriend and he got used to splitting the bills?  If it bothers you, don't date him.  It would bother me, but since there was the movie bet, that could be the only reason and if I liked him I would give him another chance to show he is a gentleman.

Ugh!  It's disgusting that he would choose to blame his cheapness on a whole group of people than just taking responsibility for it.  I know that that is a common stereotype of jewish people, but why perpetuate a negative stereotype?  Not all jewish people are cheap, just like all non-jewish people are not "not cheap".  Looks like he was trying to make it seem acceptable by blaming it on his heritage.  This guy sounds like such a loser.
