Probably so they can be marked down 90% off in 6 months.  That way the store/designer can write off $1800, and some poor schmuck can be ecstatic about wearing 'designer' f-ing plain cotton shorts that they got 'such a deal' on.

Wouldn't you have loved to be a fly on the wall in whatever meeting they decided how to price these?  How on earth is that a reasonable price for a pair of cotton shorts that could have come from F21 just as eaily?!

those shorts better do my taxes, clean my house, and give me a massage, for $2,015!!! That's just absolutely ridiculous, esp. given the economy. I could sorta see some designer trying to get away with the crazy during a good economy, but while we're in/coming out of a recession? Someone's been huffing the fabric glue...
