Strange diet my mom told me about...
Permalink Closed

She was telling me about this diet that she said she's done before, and it worked for her. It's kinda silly, did you guys ever hear anything like it? You're supposed to do it for 4 days, and you lose 4 pounds in those days. And then you take a break for 4 days and eat however you want, and then do it again however many times you need to lose 4 more pounds.

It goes like this:

when you wake up you drink a cup of coffee (i dont drink coffee so i'll have chocolate milk, lol)

then two hours later you eat a hard bioled egg.

then two hours later you eat a cucumber.

then two hours later you eat, i think she said, 150 grams of meat (beef, chicken)

then two hours later you eat a small piece of dark chocolate.

and then before you go to bed you have some plain yogurt, like no sugar.

It sounds really wierd, but I cant figure out if its hard. My mom said it wasnt hard, but she doesnt really eat a lot in the first place. I feel like its all really small portions of food, but you eat so often that it seems like it might be managable.

I might try it out. I know fad diets are bad, but it's only 4 days-- and I don't really think it'll be that torturous. I guess I'm resorting to fad diets because I've been dieting regularly (like eating really healthy, no junk food, no sugar, nothing bad!!) and it hasnt really helped. I maybe lost like 5 pounds, but I've been doing it for over a month! And this week, I tried the cabbage soup diet. I just finished day 4, and it hasnt been hard-- but I don't really see any results. This diet is supposed to let you lose a lot of wieght, but I maybe lost a pound. And I can't even tell because I fluctuate so much, that I'm not even sure what my normal wieght is.

Boo! Just eat right and exercise. There is no magic, there is no special diet. It's calories in, calories out. What did you eat before that you consider healthy?  What did you do for exercise? Let me know these things and I can tell you a WAY better plan than eating that crap. Please be healthy. What are you going to do after the 4 days? Eat bad food again? It's a lifestyle change, no diet will help you lose weight.....EVER! Please talk to me about this, I REALLY want you to be healthy and happy!

Jen, thanks so much about your concern! I'm not trying to be unhealthy, and I would never want to starve myself.

What I mean by eating healthy, it just calorie reduction, no junk food, no sweets, lots of foods high in fiber. Lots of fruits and veggies, and water and skim milk.

But, my problem is (and i know im going to get yelled at for this!) that I don't exercise. I know! I know! I've heard over and over again that you have to exercise, but it's so hard for me to get started because I've really never exercised in my life! I've taken dance classes when I was a kid, but thats the most I've ever been physical on a consistant bases.

It's just that I really hate to run or jog, I mean REALLY HATE. It makes me feel sick doing it because I'm so out of shape. I'm not apart of a gym, and I don't really want to pay for classes. At school I walk non stop because my classes are about 1.5 miles from my dorm. So I felt like that was enough activity for me, but now that I'm home I'm not active at all! Except for when I go into the city and walk around all day. Lately I've been lifting some wieghts, but I stopped after a week because I don't think they wont make my arms thinner. I also want to start doing crunches, because I really want to tone my stomach (thats really my problem area). I feel like I don't have a lot of opportunity to exercise because I don't belong to a gym, and I hate jogging. I know I could do those videos, but I don't really have a lot of space in my apartment to do big movements (like if I were to buy dance videos).

Ugh.. I know I should exercise and that all of these excuses are bad! And the funny part is that I don't even wiegh alot, and it's just that I'm a bit flabby and not-toned. I'm sure that exercising will get my body exactly the way I want, it's just that exercising is so boring!

If you want a safe diet go with Weight Watchers.  It is high in fiber and you have to eat lots of the stuff you want to eat.

If you don't weigh alot anyways and you just want to tone up pull out those hand weights and do them while you watch tv.  You would be amazed what 3 and 5 pound dumb bells will do to your arms.  My mom has amazing arms and all she uses are those 3 and 5 pounders.  If you don't have a lot of space get a pilates dvd.  You just need enough space to lay on the floor and it will help tone you up.  Plus it will get you motivated to do more

A quick suggestion:

I dont really care for running/jogging either, but I do better when I go to the gym. I am too cheap to pay for a membership, especially when I may stop giong at any time for periods of time. But if you are at a university (you said dorm) they usually have a gym for the students for free. Every school I have gone to offers this. check into it then when you feel like it go, sometimes if you can make a comitment to go regularly for one month no matter what, it helps to get it into your routine and can choose how and when you go after the first month.

Try a fitness dvd. You can bellydance, do hip-hop, kickboxing, yoga, step, fitball, weights, anything you want for about $15 and that's a start.  Then maybe you won't hate running or biking so much because you'll be in better shape. Look, if you eat clan protein, veggies, and fruit, you will not get fat! For treats try sugar free fudge pops, sugra free jello pudding or baked/light chips or smartpop popcorn. You can do it! Just start slow and you;ll get there!
