how about a mix of sexy and sweet? a body-conscious top with one of the top trends -- a full skirt (depending upon the fullness, i just think of these as "sweet" and/or feminine), sexy heels and gold clutch you mentioned.

i like misty's idea. things vary from city to city, but if i were in your situation, in my city, and i wanted to wear a dress, i'd go for something more streamlined and a bit on the funky side. these dresses from smartbargains (online loehmann's) caught my eye.

if you wanted to go funky you could wear this dress & boots

this is more on the casual side but could easily be jazzed up with accessories

this is very of the moment

this is quirky but still sophisticated

another basic dress that can easily be dressed up

I haven't tried it on though, I just like how it is simple. I would wear it with simple gold accessories.

I adore this dress, but wish it came in other colors. It is very Marilyn looking to me, in a black or a white, and reminds me of an Imitation of Christ dress that I wanted a while back, but the IOC dress was much shorter.
