i feel like i wear the same thing everyday...  but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, i have money to spend and i'm going to vegas soon and there is some shopping to be done there !

i just sit in front of my closet every morning and stare...  i've been going for comfort over style lately and i hate it.  i just think *well, i have jack sh$% to wear, so why not be comfy"  i have only been putting makeup on about 50% of the time...

it's almost fashion depression.  please help me.

i'm not depressed or anything, i just need a wardrobe pick me up.

I guess I am going through the same thing. I'm heading to Europe in a few days, and am refusing to wear anything nice until I go, in a strange attempt to keep the clothes...fresh? You're going on a trip soon too! Don't blame yourself! BLAME THE TRIP!! Besides, don't fret, when you come back with your new vegas style you will just look 200% better in comparison to your not-trying style from right before you left!

Did you see Charlly's article this month about snapping out of a fashion rut?  Maybe that would help.

i think most ruts are due to the fact that you have certain items in your closet that you love and  wear over and over. after a certain amount of time you get bored with them. buying new stuff doesn't always help b/c you just end up re-creating the cycle with your new stuff.

i was in a similar place. i don't really want to buy new summer work clothes b/c i know that i won't be working next summer, but i was really bored with my current options. this is what works for me and it's pretty cost effective. it's based on general closet cleaning ideas (detroit wrote an article about this in the feb. issue) but tailored more towards using your stuff.

on a day you have some time go through your closet. don't just pull out everything, but take out all the stuff you love and wear all the time. put those items on your bed. you should have a relatively good mix of tops & bottoms. now that you've got space go through all the stuff that's left in your closet and pull out the things that you like and don't wear. most likely you'll end up re-discovering stuff.

once that's done make outfits -- but you have to use one piece from your favorites pile and one piece from the pile of stuff you don't wear. you should end up with some new ideas. what i do is hang up the new outfits together. i have a coat rack that's not being used (cause it's summer) and i put the complete outfit on a hanger so i remember to wear it. this system works really well for me and i usually do it once a week or after i do laundry. plus it saves time in the morning b/c i have a bunch of outfits laid out already. hth!

i think that's some great advice from honey.  i kinda do the same thing.  i make myself wear something that i haven't worn in a while.  start with shoes, if you have a hard time....then go from there.

also, shop places you haven't before.  i'll post some things that aren't my "style" but i think if i got, it would allow me to dress a little different.

Scrapbook Print Thermal Tank not typically my style but i think just getting this i would work an outfit around it.

Necessary Objects™ Tiered Skirt i usually don't wear bright colors on the bottom, but i think this would look great with the colors green and purple/or pink.

Simply Flawless Pointelle U-Neck Top i think i could do something not trashy and fun with this.

since all of these items are super cheap...it might be fun to get and to play around with.  also, look through threadstyle and see what some girls are posting.  hth.
