Help me book a flight to Las Vegas!
Permalink Closed

I'm driving myself crazy.  Please humor me and pick one.  I know they are all very similar.

Flight 1

NJ-Las Vegas - 8/12 - departs 6:20 am arrives 11:40am. 8/14-return fllight leaves 11:55pm, arrives 10:09am the next morning.  $359

  • Pro:  cheap

  • Pro:  can spend all of Sunday in Las Vegas

  • Con:  stopovers add 3 hours each way

  • Con:  flight back to NJ leaves too late to go to work on Monday.  I would have to take Friday and Monday off (something I don't really want to do because I am going away for a week the next week)

Flight 2

NJ-Las Vegas - 8/12 - departs 8am, arrives 10:26.  8/14-return flight leaves 10:05pm and arrives 5:49am the next day.  $427

  • Pro:  Still not that expensive

  • Pro:  No stopovers

  • Pro:  Can spend all of Sunday in Las Vegas

  • Con:  still more money than flight 1

  • Con:  Probably can't go to work on Monday, but have the option if I think I will be swamped.

Flight 3

NJ-Las Vegas -8/12 - departs 8am, arrives 10:26.  8/14-return flight departs 3:57 and arrives 11:47pm.  $477

  • Pro:  I can go to work on Monday

  • Pro:  no stopovers

  • Con:  won't really get to spend time in Las Vegas on Sunday

  • Con:  It costs $120 more than flight 1. That's money  I can be spending on drinks, food, and fun.

i would take flight 2- imo, it is worth it to pay a little more to not have layovers, and this way you get a whole weekend and can still go to work monday if you need be, even for a half day. it is the best of all the options. have a great trip!

I agree.  If you are completely swamped you could go in at noon (after you have gone to bed once you get home-hahaha) and work til 5/530 (whenever you get off).

i agree, #2 seems like the best option, who wants to spend $120 extra just to make sure you get to work?

btw, i'm so excited to meet you in vegas!  can't wait!

I agree with choice 2.  Plus, might as well get to spend more time there on sunday if you're paying for the ticket anyways!  Have fun!  I'm going to be there the weekend of 23-26th and can't wait!!

Me, too!  Huge fan here.  If it would have made sense to take a red-eye there I would have done that, too.   I like to either leave in the afternoon and get there right in time for a quick dinner and bed or I like to take a red-eye and just wake up and be there!

I booked number 2!  Thanks everyone for putting things into perspective.  6 hours in layovers is really a lot of time to lose for a weekend trip.  My flights would have been 8 hours each way instead of 5.  Also, you're right esquiress, spending $120 just to get there in time for work is stupid.  It's not like they are paying for it and I make the same amount of money whether I'm there or not.

Me, too!  I already told my friend you might be meeting up!  She is excited to have another person to hang out with.  How am I supposed to say I know you?  I feel a little strange saying I've never met you before.
