Wow, it's so weird to be back here after my second (I think?) hiatus from all you girls, but I'm ready to start chatting once again!
I was tremendously busy with school the last time I posted here, but it's all OVER now! I graduated 3 weeks ago from St. John's University (NY), and I've been working full-time at my job. It's so weird to be done with school and not have the pressure of a million reports and group projects, but I was really stressed because I was having a hard time finding a job and my current one is stressing me out on top of that (managerial issues, grrrr).
And then...something happened! The job market sucks for marketing majors right now, and the only people that were calling me back were headhunters. I went to visit one out in Syosset, Long Island in this huge office building. As I was walking out, I saw the corporate office for ACNielsen (market research firm, you might know them as the company that does TV ratings) and since I was all dressed up with a bunch of resumes, I had the nerve to just walk in there and plop down my resume - something that is totally out of character for me!
Then, they actually called ME! I was applying for positions on their website all the time without getting a call back, so who would have thought that a hard copy of my resume in person would do the trick? The position was absolutely perfect for me and I just heard back yesterday that I got the job! Don't know when I start yet, but I'm so glad to have a real job now!
Well that's about it - hope everyone is well, and congrats to those who got married and I wasn't here to congratulate before, lol. Hope to be here more often now!
Considering the current climate for college grads in the job market I would say you have about the most success anyone could hope for - you lucky girl! Congratulations (and I'm sure a lot more than just luck had to do with it).
