Most of you were not even born when Watergate broke-I remember hearing about it in school and it was a huge deal.  Mark Felt was courageous and I can't believe Woodward and Bernstein were able to keep their word and not out Felt for all these years.

I was bummed about it- the whole thing was pretty anticlimatic.

Corageous is one way to think of him...

I wasn't alive in the days of Watergate, but I was so excited to hear this! I always figured Deep Throat would be dead

Mark Felt has always been in the top 3 or 4 candidates to be Deep Throat, but most people thought that the FBI wouldn't have known all that info about the White House. I am anxious to hear how he discovered all his info.

I teach Watergate in my classes every fall, and after we watch All The President's Men the kids always go crazy because they don't know who Deep Throat is.

RyanJ- why don't you consider him courageous? Because of what he did or because he waited so long to come forward?

I think Felt is so cute. He looks like the sweetest man.

Halleybird-knowing that you are a teacher, I was curious as to what your perspective on this would be.   Felt's coming forward is a very historical event.  That's really cool that you teach it and watch the movie.

I am thrilled that we found out while Felt is still alive & can answer questions. I am sad, too -- it was one of the greatest mysteries of our time and it's sort of sad that it's over.

Didn't somebody die recently who had been suspected of being Deep Throat?  Also, I caught an interview on the Today Show yesterday with a guy who when he was in high school wrote a paper that he suspected MARK FELT way back in 1996 (I think that was the year) they even had Bernstein on Today to ask him about it and he denied it, but looked nervous.  That kid is a college grad now, ya think somebody will hire him asap?

I think it's great that Felt was able to own this identity by revealing himself while he is still alive.

I am annoyed at the nay sayers calling Felt unethical for what he did being interviewed on various cable news networks, I am ALL FOR whistle blowers, in this case it was totally the right thing to do!
