KATIE Holmes is not sporting a ring yet, but she is engaged to Tom Cruise. Just a month after the two started publicly canoodling to express their "love," Holmes packed her bags and moved in with the star and, pals say, she's accepted a marriage proposal. We also hear that Holmes, a Christian, is converting to Scientology. One pal said, "She had her initial meeting with Tom at the Scientology Center in L.A., and she goes with him now a lot. She is converting." Holmes has also switched agents at the Creative Artists Agency - from her longtime rep to Cruise's rep. Cruise's sister/rep, Lee Anne DeVette, was traveling and didn't return calls. Meanwhile, after Cruise's over-the-top burst of emotion on "Oprah" last week, there's a new hobby in L.A. among agents and others, called "Doing the Cruise." According to defamer.com, people at parties get really riled up and start jumping up and down on sofas and wrestling.

I saw this thing on the netscape home page about an interview with Tom about how he became successful and overcame adversity. WHAT adversity???? Yea Tom, we know you have had such a hard life being a HUGE star and datig and marrying hot star actresses. I am not even dignifying it with a read! That man is bonkers!!!!

Tom Cruise is really making me sick these days.  He's so in love w/himself - has anyone seen him in that promo for the MTV Movie Awards?  Where he says "I love you, I love you, I love all of you"  I really think he thinks he's god.  Yuck.  And all I can say is if it's true that they are engaged, she's just as crazy as he is.  Scary!

i read somewhere that she is a self-proclaimed virgin and he has been questioned about his feelings for the other team...so what a perfect couple!  i'm so over them.  i have always thought he was a tool.  poor dakota who had to deal with him during that movie!!!

I was so over hearing about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, now I'm so over hearing about Tom and Katie.


I feel bad for her, I feel like she's being pulled around by him and is caught up in his whirlwind. Lorelei said it best, "wake up, Katie!".


The problem with all of this is that the photographers and reporters fuel their fire by reporting it. Nobody cares anymore. With job shortages, high gas prices and a war going on, I wish these people would get a grip and come back to reality.


Sorry to rant, its just that these prefab relationships that they concoct seem so ridiculous.

OK OK the engagement is bad enough, but she is CONVERTING TO SCIENTOLOGY??????


I just DON'T get it. It isn't even just the fact that scientology is wacky--I mean, to be quite blunt, the theory or theology of it is no more wacky than that of any other religion--it's the fact that the entire thing was made up whatever it was, 20 years ago or something, by this sci fi author, just purely for the hell of it. It's one thing to believe in an ancient religion that is thousands of years old and whose origins are shrouded in mystery, but this?

I don't feel sorry for her. If she doesn't see what's going on, she's dumber than she looks. He's made the careers of every woman he's been with (Mimi, Nicole, Penelope...). She's getting famous in exchange for being his beard.

famous maybe, but not in a good way with the way he's been acting lately.
I can tell you one thing, I am not going to see Batman Begins just because of all the kooky news about the two of them!!

However, I am going to see it because Christian Bale is YUMMY!
