Do you think this look is okay for an everyday type casual outfit?  I was thinking of with the vest open.  I'm concerned that it would be an attempt to look too young for me?

ITA: I'd actually be using a white shirt dress, that totally covers my upper thighs...

ohhh OK, in the picture I was thinking that it didn't cover that low, but now that I look at it again I don't know why I thought that because the vest ends higher than the top hem!

I think the leggings/ballet flat look is a bit young (don't know why), so I'd swap out the shoes for boots or another more substantial shoe.

It's definitely a retro 80s look, and since I was around the first time these styles were trendy, my motto is to avoid them when they come back...

 I was thinking the same way, though I was in grammar school in the eighties, so I thought I could have a little fun with some of the looks if I was not over the top...

i like it...another idea you could play with is a wide belt instead of a vest. maybe use it as a second outfit?
