I just talked to my friend and she told me her *devastating* news. The other day she went to the denist to have her permanent retainer fixed. Long story short, her teeth have shifted and are crowding her mouth so she's back in braces. She said she got porcelain ones that aren't noticeable on the top but had to get old school metal on the bottom. Needless to say, she's not feeling too cool but knows she will have a perfect smile after her second (and hopefully last) set of braces.
I feel bad that she is literally having to go through the awkward stage again (I loathed my braces/rubber bands/rainbow, glow in the dark retainer) so I want to get her a little something to cheer her up. Any ideas? I don't want to get her something random and unrelated, like shower gel.
What about a gift basket with cool flavored toothpaste, floss, mouthwash, maybe an electric toothbrush (there are cheap or more expenxive options out there), also things like a waterpick, and who knows what else. I would hit up the toothpaste/brush aisle at your local grocery/walgreens/cvs/drugstore and get stuff like that. Maybe even throw in some sugar free gum that she can chew =).

I like the gift basket idea- especially with some braces-friendly snacks.
a little more on the random side, but what about a fun pair of earring of eye makeup? Something to make her feel pretty and also to attract attention away from her mouth?

i like both ideas, but i know if it were me, i would love to have something to distract me from round two of braces (even thought i want them and need them.. i'm sorry she just has to go through it twice!).
