She shaved it for her role in V for Vendetta.
She also happened to make one of the most moronic comments ever about being bald:

"Some people will think I'm a neo-Nazi or that I have cancer or I'm a lesbian.

That is quite possible the most moronic quote I've ever heard. I didn't realize that once you become a lesbian you had to shave your head. Hmmm my friend must have missed that section of the "how to be a lesbian manual"

she tends to put her foot in her mouth, which is funny b/c she's usually described as "smart" did you read the allure article where she talked about web dubois and tried to compare her experience in hollywood/as an actress to his? crazy stuff.

I didn't find her quote to be moronic.  Hey, it's been a few years, but I remember Lilith Fair 1998 and there were a LOT of shaved head lesbians there. Trust!

I agree - I don't think it was that moronic of her to say, she probably didn't mean it to be taken so literal.  She actually is a really intelligent person - she went to Harvard afterall.  I watched her on Inside the Actors Studio and she's really smart and well spoken.  I like her a lot, she seems more grounded than a lot of actresses in Hollywood.
