Things you're excited about this summer?

I was just thinking how excited I am about alot of little small things going on in my life right now. I just wanted to share and see if anyone else had things they were looking forward to this summer.


  • My Memorial Day weekend vacation in Vieques
  • Hanging out on my balcony in my new apt
  • Buying a grill
  • Finally having a car for small weekend trips
  • Air conditioning (first time in YEARS!)
  • Started private pilates sessions
  • My lilac bush
  • Summer concerts


There are probably more things I can't think of right now

Things I am looking forward to in the coming weeks/months:



  • My Anthro stuff coming in the mail
  • Quitting my job (only 16 working days left!!!)
  • Moving!!!
  • Starting yoga and pilates classes
  • Volunteering at the botanical gardens
  • Wedding dress shopping, and hopefully buying!
  • Being able to have my own garden again
  • Barbecues
  • Edit:  My 21st Birthday !

Looking forward to:


  • My THREE WEEK trip to France and Belgium!
  • Hopefully getting up to my parents' house in CT a few times.
  • Sitting on the river promenade and reading.
  • Last season of Six Feet Under.
  • Eating watermelon.
  • Wearing skirts and flip-flops.
  • Going to Mets games.


NOT looking forward to:

  • Heat and humidity and the frizzy hair that comes with it.
  • Summer associates driving me crazy.
  • Coming back from France and having to wait months and months before I see this boy again.

so many things...summer is my favorite time of year. something about it makes me feel like anything is possible.


*spontaniety -- it's amazing what you can convince people to do during the summer that they would otherwise object to


*walking -- i love just meandering aimlessly around the city


*long days


*happy hours at places with outdoor patios/gardens


*summer concerts


*a visit from my mom. she usually comes to see me at least once during the summer and we take a road trip somewhere. i love being a car.


*studying for the gmat. i'm not actually excited about the test itself, but what it represents -- no longer being stuck at my job (which isn't bad, but it's a total deadend and i've been there too long.)

  • Going to Virginia Beach for vacation

This is fun!  Here's my list:


* Wearing skirts and flips flops


* Going to  White Sox games


* BBQ'ing on my roof top deck w/my boyfriend


* Going to the beach


* Summer concerts (going to see Oasis next month)


* Outdoor Street Fests (i live on the north side of the city in Chicago and there are a ton)


* Having it stay light outside till about 9pm


* Taking walks to the lakefront w/my boyfriend

  • Trip to NYC and Poconos to visit Dad and new stepmom

  • Trip to VA, where I used to go to school, for a dear friend's wedding. And seeing my favorite professor again. 

  • Bright colored clothes

  • Highlights and having sun kissed looking hair

  • The big 2-0 (yes I have been sick of being a teenager since I was 16)

  • It's the least busy time of year at my job...everyone's taking vacations.
