Dining room question

Do the dining room table and china cabinet have to match in color. Our table is being delivered on Saturday and it's a litght cherry wood. But I cannot find any reasonable priced cabinets that will fit in the room in the same wood. I am wondering since the baseboards in the room are painted white, would it be okay to have a white china cabinet. There is a really nice one at Crate & Barrel for about $400.

My table is also cherry wood - and I was also considering white china cabinets. My whole room is basically white/off white so I thought it would look nice...but then I ended up with the mirrored ones - my point is - I wanted to either match the cherry wood exactly- or do something completely different.

I think it would be totally fine as long as the room is slightly eclectic and not intended to be formal.  Kind of like wearing black w/brown - unless it's totally different, it'll look like you tried to match it and it didn't work  . . .

Thanks for the thoughts. The problem has been solved however because I just got a call from Seaman's and the table the goes with the chairs they deliverd is no longer available. What bullshit! At least they are going to give us a full refund or we can pick something else in the store and they will pick up the chairs.

So, maybe we can just get a whit table set that will go with the china cabinet.
