There is a new outbreak of spam that claims to be a critical update for Microsoft Outlook, but the message really aims to infect your computer with an information-stealing virus known as Zbot. The message reads: "This update is critical and provides you with the latest version of Microsoft Outlook/Outlook Express and offers the highest levels of stability and security." The email instructs you to visit the "Microsoft Update Center", but when attempting to follow the link, you will download a virus known as "Zbot" or "Zeus". The "Zbot" virus is a notoriously known information stealer. It can capture keystrokes to obtain login credentials, credit card numbers and other sensitive information.
Please be aware that your computer is already programed to download and install legitimate Microsoft updates. You have no need to install any program updates.
