Banana Republic Dress Sizing?
Permalink Closed

I just saw this dress on the website and won't be able to get to a store any time soon.  Has anyone seen it in real life?  Does it run large (I find a lot of their dresses run really large.)  Thanks!

Banana Republic usually runs large, I know that before they had petites, I bought there XS, whereas I'm usually a regular S. Which size are you? I'd try on S, if you're a regular M. YOu can always exchange. The dress is beautiful!

I think on the large side like Y-money said - not exactly "vanity sizing," maybe just a little bit o' vanity. I'm a 6/8 most of the time, and closer to a 6 than an 8 in BR. (I assume it's number sizing, not S/M/L.)

Thanks. I was hoping that with the defined waist, it might fit truer to size, but given their history, I should have known better. I think I may just order a XS and see. At least it went on sale from yesterday to today!

Jettie- the fabric is listed as 60% Rayon, 34% Lyocell, 6% Spandex.

Just saw it on the rack at BR - a small looked huge, I would def size down.

IMO BR stuff runs ginormous! I always have try stuff on from there before I buy it. It didn't use to run so big, but at some point they started carrying a size 00 and everything got bigger.

When I worked at BR we typically found that things ran an entire size large. Some women would try on the 00 and it would be baggy on them, and they weren't even skinny. Maybe a petite 0 or XS would work better?

Just got it in the mail. I ordered an XS and a S. I'm going to try them on when I get home and will let you know if either work.

Edit:

Just tried on the dress and it is going back.  The color is much more green than yellow and the material feels kind of cheap.  The XS wasn't too bad fit-wise.  I am normally a size 4 and it fit OK (not perfect though.)

Thanks for everyone's help!  I'm still searching for a great dress for my FSIL shower.
