My hubby and I switched our phone service a month or so ago, and decided to go with Verizon phone only and comcast dsl. Well, the comcast totally sucks. it kicks us off of the internet almost every time we use it. They say that it's a problem with our "router" but we never had this problem with our prior ISP. So I have to switch immediately, I can't deal with comcast any more. surprisingly, one of my coworkers said they were great and that's part of the reason we switched. has anyone have any good or bad expereiences w/ Verizon?? I'm hoping it will at least be better than what we have now.
I have had Verizon at home and at the office for over two years. We love Verizon. I have no experience with Cable access though so I can't really compare. Before we had DSL we had dial up and compared to that this is pretty instant. I will say I do think my work computer is faster online than my home computer, but that could be because my home computer is older.
I have Comcast cable internet and love it, but you said you had DSL, did you mean Cable modem? I wasn't aware that Comcast had DSL? Whatever you do, do not switch to SBC Yahoo DSL - that is the worst service I've ever had in my whole life.
Thanks, girls. S/C 33--yes it must be the cable modem then. I wasn't sure about that, but I know we have a modem now so I guess that's what we currently have with Comcast. It's just not working at all for us--uggh! I think I will still switch to Verizon and hope for the best. I hear mixed reviews about all of these ISPs.

I think you're right - someone always has something to say about a company - good and bad. Some people have good experiences and then some have bad w/the same company. Have you called Comcast to try and resolve the problem?
Yes, I called them and got a crappy answer. She said that it was not Comcast, but likely our "router" (I don't even know what that is). Then she lamely told me that I've had their service for 36 days and I need to do something (I forgot what she called it--it's some process where you turn off and on the modem I think) "every once in a while". I asked her what she meant by "every once in a while" and she wouldn't or couldn't answer the question. Then I told my hubby what they said about the router, etc. and he said that was bullshit, that our router works fine and we've never had a problem with it. So that's why I'm switching. So frustrating! Thanks for your insight, shopchicago.
