Dress Question

If I am attending a mid-day beach wedding this weekend, is it out of line to wear a strapless black dress? I was going to "beach it up" and wear a flower in my hair and torquoise sandals, but is it too dressy? What do you think....

It sounds perfect, I don't think strapless is out of line at all.

i think strapless is fine! i'd be more concerned with material in terms of how dressy it is.

if you're going to be standing on sand, you might reconsider heels (not sure if your sandals are flats) . beaches are notoriously windy too, so take that into consideration. i agree, strapless is fine. i'd be a little more inclined towards something more diaphinous though. maybe a sheer shoulder scarf? enjoy!!! sounds like fun!

The beauty of a little black dress is that it's appropriate for almost everything! I think it sounds great. Love the idea of a flower in your hair.

I went to a beach wedding two years ago and wore a brown cotton dress, almost 50's style with a fairly full skirt. But it was pretty casual, being cotton. I wore wedges, so I could still have heels on and not have to worry about sinking into the sand.

Most of us dressed down, but one guy showed up in a suit and one of my girlfriends dressed up in a simple black LBD and some awesome jewelry. It was tad fancy for the beach, but to me they just proved that there's nothing wrong with being the most dressed up person at any event. :)

BTW this was a 2 pm wedding and the bride wore a huge, "wedding cake topper" type dress. It was gorgeous, even though not what you would think of for the beach.

Your outfit sounds perfect. Have fun!

Your plan does sound great.  As long as the fabric is summer appropriate, you should be good to go.  Once you get off the beach for the reception (which I'm assuming you will), you'll be happy that you are on the dressier side-- not to mention when photos start circulating.
