is this ok for a friday night wedding?
Permalink Closed

i've never attended a friday night wedding so i'm not really sure if this is appropriate (or too goth, but that's another issue).

it's at 6:30, and the couple in question are actually *already married* but are having a bigger ceremony + celebration. (they were married within the last year at a bed + breakfast with just their immediate families) not sure if that tidbit changes anything!

here's the dress:

and what the pattern looks like in person:

if this doesn't seem appropriate, any other suggestions? thanks!

I think it works! I'd just add some colorful accessories so that you dont look too dark or goth

I agree.  It's fine for a night wedding.

I like it. I would think it would be ok especially if you put on some colorful accessories.

Yeah, this is okay in my opinion. More and more I am reading that wearing black is now considered to be perfectly fine at weddings. And even if that tradition were still popular, since this is a non-traditional celebration on a Friday night anyway, you're covered.

I also think it's appropriate, however would accessorize with gold jewerly ( yellow/rose gold), earrings &/or bracelet/bangle.
Definetely a different shoe then what you're wearing on the pic. Should be an "evening" heel - high, stiletto/chunky high.
Enjoy the wedding!

I think looks great, and considering it more of a wedding reception then a standard wedding it seems perfectly fine. Btw, love the dress.

I think it's perfect and you look fabulous in it. Maybe it depends on the area but every wedding I've been to had tons of women wearing black.

Where is the event being held? I think it's fine for a home or a restaurant, but if it's someplace swankier like a country club I might look for something more overtly cocktailish.

You look hot in it!

it's at a hall..(both the wedding and reception are being held there) it's a nice place, but not a country club if that makes sense.

yana - the shoes are satin and i consider them evening shoes. i don't like wearing a higher heel for weddings because i like to dance!

thanks again, ladies.

I think the shoes are fine. The dress is perfect for a Friday night wedding. It sounds like a casual dressy sort of thing and that dress strikes me as a perfect compromise. I'd add a little color too (the bangles sound like they'd work.) I don't think I'd wear a necklace, I like the neckline design of the crochet on the dress.

You look great by the way! I really like your hair!

I agree - plus, your added info weirdly does change things for me - I wouldn't worry so much
