I am so disappointed and I could use some financial-ish advice.
I had planned on buying a new Mac book and then starting school part time in January 2010. Part of this was going to be paid by my work benefit (our development benefit). Because of this benefit I was going to be able to buy a bit better computer than I could have afforded on my own and have 1 class per year paid for.
Due to the economy and blah blah, they announced that they are eliminating our development benefit. Poop. That kind of screws my plans a bit.
Now what should I do...
-save up for the Mac book I orignally planned for which might bump my school back until Sept 2010 (to me this is not a great choice)
-save for a base model Mac book with lower RAM, etc and go to school probably in Jan 2010 barring any more unforseen circustances
-Buy a PC (I found an brand new Acer laptop for like $400. I could get it next month) and start school Summer or Sept 2009 since the PC is so much cheaper
I'm not crazy about PC's but if it means I can go to school sooner, it would be worth it. Wouldn't it? I've never had a PC that I loved but it would do its duty for school I think and I could get the Mac I love once school is over. I don't know if buying a base Mac is the best choice since it would still be more expensive than a PC and its not really what I want.
I'm a mac lover, too but in this case I'd go PC. The education has a much higher long term value than a computer that will need replaced in five years anyway.

I say PC too - unless you're going into a program where a Mac would be much better - digital design, etc. (I actually don't know crap about digital design, so no offense to any PC-using designers, I just know that all the designers I know use Macs!)
