morning girls,

so i was getting my makeup done last weekend at benefit and the makeup artist told me that i should really start using eye cream.  ummm....thanks, lady.  what are you trying to say?

i'm only 23, but i guess i should start.  does everybody else use eye cream in their early 20s?  any recommendations?  if i'm going to spend money on eye goop, i want to get a good one... thanks!

hmm well I usually take whatever the makeup people say with a grain of salt since they are trying to get you to buy as much of their product as possible. I don't use eye cream nor do I know what I would even use it for or what it does.  I'd like to hear more about it.

I think the advise that you should start using eye cream in your 20s is pretty common.  I'm 30 and I've been using it for a few years.

I love Neutrogena products, so I usually use this:

I also like this Aveda Eye Cream and I try to pick up samples whenever I can:

LOL, I justed turned 22 and I looked in the mirror a few weeks ago and was like "shit, I'd better start using some eye cream there!" The joys of getting "old"

I got one by nuetrogena at CVS and I like it a lot- and not that I was wrinkly or anything before, but I have notices a difference in the texture of the skin there, its a lot smoother and softer now.

I've been using eye cream since I was 17. I am frightened of getting wrinkles since the skin around my eyes is dry (unlike the rest of my face) and I'm also trying to fade dark circles from lack of sleep.

I use Shiseido's Bio-Performance eye cream (comes in a little bottle with a pump), pricey but it works really well.

I loooooove the Mario Badescu eye cream - I'm still using the free sample I got 4 months ago!  I'm only 20 so no big wrinkles yet, but I like that it tones down my puffiness/dryness/darkness and makes any overnight-mascara-migration easier to deal with in the morning without tugging at the skin.

i use aura science currently but since the store went out of business- i tried a new one at Henri Bendel's the last time i was there and am going to get it the next time.  unfortunatly i can't remember the name of it- i just remember that it was $50.

i am 25 and have been using eye cream for 3-4 years.  it pays to keep that area of your skin super hydrated and also, in my family, the first and pratically only place we age is in our eyes... so i want to make sure to keep it as healthy as possible!

I use Kiehl's Avocado Eye Treatment.  I absolutely love it!  Guess my 2 year old does too, because I caught her eating it yesterday.  How adorable.

I know you young ones don't think you need eye cream, but I have been using it in my skin care regimen daily since I was 18 (now 32 3/4) & still don't have any crows feet or wrinkles. Once you are older & have wrinkles, it's kinda late to be worrying about preventing them!! I have always used the Mary Kay triple action eye enhancer & instant action eye cream. I also like to throw in some of the burts bees products - i particularly love their marshmallow vanishing creme because I swear that i can feel it tightening up the skin around my eye area.

I have started using eye cream on a regular basis this past fall/winter.  (I'm 24 in a few days.)  Because I live in Minnesota and the winters are so flippin harsh, my skin gets really dry and patchy around the eyes if I don't use an eye cream at night.  I've seen a noticable difference since I started using an eye cream on a daily basis.

Currently I'm using DDF Nourishing Eye Cream which is great, but it's the only one I've ever used so I can't compare it to anything.  I chose it b/c I have sensitive skin and DDF products have never broken me out before.  Anyway, I think when it comes to your skin, it never hurts to do some preventative care!!

I hate getting old.

I've been using eye cream off and on for about 5+ years now (I'm 26). I don't use it everyday like I should but that's just because I'm lazy. I'm trying to make it a regular part of my skincare routine though. Anyway, the best eye cream I've ever used is Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair Eye Recovery Complex. It rocks! I can always see and feel an immediate difference in the mornings when I've put it on the night before. My skin feels much silkier and smoother and the fine lines look less enthusiastic, if you will. I survive on free samples of the stuff - they last forever!

During the day I use Nivea Q10 Advanced Wrinkle Reduced Plus Eye Cream. I'm not sure if it actually helps or not but it definitely lightly moisturizes my eye area and makes concealer look better and stay on longer.

P.S. Those beauty people are EVIL! I went to the Clinique counter at age 21 and the lady told me I was a 4 out of 6 on the wrinkle scale! As if! The most evil thing was she said she couldn't sell me anything that would fix it. She wasn't even trying to make a sale. To this day I've never purchased another thing from a clinique makeup counter. Evil, I tell you.

I will be 25 this yr and was wondering when i should start using it.  Does it go just under the eye or on the lid also?

Bluebird, did you get the samples from their website?

I'm almost 30 and started using eye cream when I was about 22.  This is the most delicate area on the face and usually the first place to show signs of aging.  It's important to start early to prevent fine lines.  I started early and it helped, most are shocked when I reveal my age.  I also like the Estee Lauder Advanded Night Repair.

Dab the outer corners of the eye area to the hairline with your forefinger, this is the crucial area to prevent fine lines.  Under the eyes if you are using for dark circles or puffiness.  And don't use too much, a little goes a long way.  The skin will only absorb so much so don't overdo it or you might risk wasting product.

I put mine on under my eye, from the eye to the hairline on the side of my eye, and on my eyelids.

I got the samples from the counters. Sometimes they'll just give you samples, but I mostly get them in the gifts. My grandmother loves Beautiful so anytime I get a gift for her, I stock up myself and steal her little eye repair creams! Plus I buy some Estee Lauder self-tanner, so I get the gifts/samples that way, too. Just go ask at your closest counter and ask how to get the samples. They'll let you know.

Just out of curiousity- what does an eye cream do?    Is it the moisture that keeps you from getting wrinkles, the special ingredients, spf??  Do you put it on morning AND night?  Fill a girl in!

Here's what I expect an eye cream to do for me (and why I like the Estee Lauder one because it does them all):

decrease dark circles, reduce the appearance of the little lines, make the skin less thin and billowy (if that makes sense), generally smooth and soften all the skin around my eyes, and (here's the kicker) keep back the hands of time

I put it on day and night but for day I use a different eye cream because I have different needs:

spf, moisturize, create a nice base for my concealer so it will stay on all day

HTH!

so eye cream is a super essential.  im 23 and i have been using it for almost 3 years....we wont notice a diffrence now but when our friends are 50 and complaining about their wrinkles...we can strut our stuff.  and....it helps concealer go on way smoother.  :)

some really great stuff is the M.D formulations under eye cream but its a bit pricey.

equally good and not as expensive is the neutrogena eye brightening cream.

im new..love this place.  YAY!

i like the Renergie Lift Contour Eye by Lancome one b/c you can apply over or under makeup. I like to use it in the morning under makeup. It is lifting and firming eye serum and it lasts awhile. Pricey but i get when there are free gifts. There is an Origins one called No Puffery that is good---you can feel it get tight. I use it occassionally like on Sundays when I give myself a facial or at night.

I got the free sample from Mario Badescu--Chamomile Eye Cream and I like it too.
