i'm searching for a new ceramic hair straightener, any recommendations? do the CHI and/or the HAI live up to its hype? i've read tons of good reviews about them, but they're all from people who just purchased it, so i'm wondering if the quality of the product lasts. thanks!

I have a CHI and I love it! It really works in making my hair smooth and the iron itself hasn't had any problems either. I highly recommend it..

I dont have it but a few of my friends have chi and they love it and they all have different types of hair.  I will definitely soon make the investment.

i have been through 3 ceramics in my lifetime.  First was the CHI- i don't think it lives up to the hype once you try other brands.  plus, they don't have a warranty on their product and mine blew out within three months of using it.

2nd was a WIGO- pretty good.  i left it in my hotel room and never saw it again.  it had red ceramic plates and retailed for around $120.

and now i am using X2 by Cricket which has true ceramic plates that change color when properly heated.  my hairdresser told me that is how you can tell a TRUE ceramic iron over the others.  i adore this one and the best part is that it only cost me $60!

i have had the solano sapphire staightener for over two years and i love it.  i went to a beauty shop that sells them all (chai, hai, etc...) and the lady recommended that one.

I got the Sedu after reading raves about it on folica.com. (If I recall correctly, it's one of their highest rated straighteners.) It's great - heats up quickly and leaves my hair so silky. My friends have used it (we're all slaves to flat irons) and loved it too.

I've had my chi for about 3 years now and it rocks! I use it almost every day and my hair is way less damaged since I started using it than before. It's a great investment.

My roommate has also had her chi for about 3 years now (hers was so great I went out and bought one) and she loves hers, too!
