We are building some walls in our basement to finish off a room. I'm on the fence as to what color to paint it. The entrance to the basement is off the kitchen which has terra cotta walls. The purpose of the room will primarily be for working out. I'm using a deep gold for my bedroom vanity/bath and am wondering if that color might work down there as well. I am also trying to get the house ready to sell, so that's a consideration as well. Should I just go with boring white? I also want to paint the cement floor - should I just go with a gray? I currently have a gray loop carpet area rug I use for my workout area and plan to use that in the space after the "remodel."

yeah, you're probably right. maybe just stick with white walls and a gray floor.
now, the walls we're building are going to be beadboard, and the other walls are like a nubby poured concrete. Just wondering if I should paint them differently, or if the textures would drive any color choices...

I would go with a cement stain and if you are wanting to go with the gray rug, then I'd stain gray. Maybe a nice, soft, neutral sage, spa-like green would be nice for the walls with the gray floors, not as harsh as the white. You want it to be a place you wanna go work out :)
the green sounds nice, but I think I'm going to go with an almond that is the same as the trim in my kitchen -- I think it will be a nice flow, yet very neutral.
I agree that staining is the way to go. Now I'm thinking it might be kind of cool to do a pattern or something... Also, since I'm going with almond on the walls with white trim, maybe I should go warmer with the floor color... Maybe I don't put the rug down -- I'm not sure it "adds" to my work outs anyway, since I use a mat on the floor. Even though I will use it as a work out room, I will have a sofa and chair in there too, as well as a dark wood entertainment cabinet. So, I guess I want to have it read as a potential all-purpose room to a prospective buyer.
apparently, after the concrete is etched with acid, you can simply use painters tape to create "tiles" (this is just an example, I don't care for the multi-color shown)

I'm thinking that I may want to do a slate tile look since that's what the tile is like in the kitchen, and that would work with the almond and my gray rug...
