Rant time!
Permalink Closed

Don't read if you are already angry!

I have been sick for the last two days, with a sinus infection, and I am taking antibiotics for this. As much as I am against the indiscriminate use of antibiotics, I think they were necessary this time. Then, I got a phone call from my PT teaching job. Basically, one of my students, who hasn't showed up in more than one month, and hasn't studied ANY of the material we have covered, decided to re-start taking the lesson (they are individual lessons) but has said something to the director along the lines that I am not a good enough teacher, he'd like me to do schemes for him because this way it'd be easier for him to study.furious I'd like to underline that he hasn't even tried studying a word of what we have covered!
WTF!
Well, it would also be easier for him if I went and took the exam instead of him, but that doesn't mean we can do it! He should be able to do synthesis schemes by himself, or we can do them toghether, but why should I do them? This way it's like I am the one preparing for the exam!

And that's the easy part.

My sis, who is about to give birth, has been in the hospital for three days now, because the baby's heartbeat is from time to time too fast. Nobody figures out why. She's theoretically due tomorrow...

And my cousin, in London, had to go to the ER and now is in the hospital for a kidney infection. They are giving her bottles of antibiotics, and checking if the infection spread out to the lungs too (thankfully not!)
What is going on today?

Sotty for the rant, but I had to let this out!

I was just about to post my very own rant, but mine sounds like small potatoes compared to yours.

Hang in there, ico! I hope your sister and cousin are okay, and you as well! That student sounds extremely lazy. I hope he gets what is coming to him.

I don't know what schemes are, but it sounds like he's really taking you for a ride. Is the director making you do this?

Schemes ae schematic syntheses I should do for him, according to him.
The director knows how the guy is, but she is of the opinion that I should do whatever it takes...
I am still mad! furious

Okay, this really irritated me.

Some girls and I were at Olive Garden for dinner.  We were each on seperate bills.  Mine was $12, I put $20 in the envelope and handed it to the waiter.  He looked at it, then asked me if I wanted my change!  An $8 tip for a $12 bill!   Maybe he thought he was super special and I wouldn't be able to resist his charm and let him keep it all.  After he left one of the girls commented how rude that was.  I was going to tip him $5 which I thought was plenty generous, but after that, $3.

i used to bartend for years, and i asked everyone if they wanted change.  i've also gotten plenty of $8 tips on $12 bills.  i don't think he thought he was special and deserved a huge tip, especially when there were a group of people who all got seperate checks, all probably handed him a 20 or a check card in each of the little books.

I think waiters usually always ask if someone wants change. Maybe he didn't see the amount of money that was in the envelope.
