Nothing very sweet or funny.

I met him in highschool. I had a really huge crush on him and he was dating this monster of a girl, so I never did anything about it. Then he and his ex broke up. A mutual friend asked me to hang out and brought my boyfriend along- my friend knew I had a crush on my boyfriend, but didn't tell me he would be coming w/ us. He ended up really liking me and we have been dating for a little over 5 years.

I guess when we are older and say we dated in high school it will be cute, but at the moment it feels kind of sad.

he was the hot guy that worked at my college's bookstore, so I kind of admired from afar until one day I was hanging out with my friend and saw him walking up. I said oh, there's the hot guy from the bookstore, and my friend said oh, that's Miles, he's living with me. So, I would be hanging out with my friend and drop him back home and ask if I could go say hi to Miles. So, eventually we ended up hanging out and almost 4 years later, here we are.

i worked with his brother on my first job out of college.  his bro would constantly say things like "you're so much like my little brother"  "my little brother loves doing that!" that it finally got to a point that my other co-worker was like "look you have to introduce them because if they are that much alike- they are at least gonna be great friends"  and so he introduced us and that was over 2 1/2 years ago and we are still together!

I met my kind of SO randomly at a party. He was completely wasted and kept going on and on about how I looked like some friend of his from home. Then he tried to hook up with me, but I thought he was gross cause he was so drunk. The next morning I was talking to a friend and I found out that he and my SO were roommates. Apparently SO was like, I harrassed this girl last night, I hope I never see her again. Because of our mutual friend I hung out with him in groups a few times and became obsessed with him and thought he was the coolest guy ever and kind of stalked him. Eventually we started hanging out and now we've been kind of together for 4 months.

My met my FH by crashing a private event. He is a partner at a Brokerage firm and every year they have this Chicago Traders Convention and there were all these men at the bar with open tabs because they were expensing it. So my friends all just sort of pretended we should be there and I asked his help in getting the bartenders attention because I needed a lime for my drink. We always joke about that when he says " how did I get so lucky" I always say " I needed a lime"

The first time we met, I was dating someone else( a real jerk!), well he was really good friends with my guy friend. I was supposed to hang out with my guy friend and some other friends, my SO came along, he got a little tipsy and at the end of the night he tried to kiss me. I declined( since I was faithful to the current loser!) and he claims that he "tripped"! So then my BF at the time ends up leaving me in Athens at 4am, drunk alone, so needless to say I broke up with him. Then the next week I had plans with my guy friend and a girlfriend. Well my SO came along again, and it was history then....we have been together for 6 1/2 years! I am going to pick out my ring on Tuesday!

We met online at a music message board five years ago. I was the only girl there and he was always really really nice to me. I would talk to these message board people all the time over aim and yahoo messenger and I just developed a really cute friendship with him. I then started college and he eventually admitted that he had a crush on me after a year of being friends so we started dating and racking up ridiculous cross-country phone bills. A year after we started dating, we finally met in person when I did a summer internship in Los Angeles. It's been pretty much happily ever after since.

Yeah, what can I say...I'm a huge computer geek.

I met my bf in a bar 5 years ago.  I was starting to see someone else and was stopping by with friends to wish him happy b-day.  I had never met him and was just along for the ride.  Well I never really heard back from the other guy when I went back to school and just assumed we went out separate ways.  My bf kept hanging out with my friends because he liked me and after a straight month of him asking me out indirectly and me saying no he caught me off guard and kept asking what i was doing friday and I never caught on until he asked me to dinner. I ended up saying yes and we had a great time! I always knew he was the one I just didn't know when I wanted to date him because I knew it would be over once we started!

my SO and i met almost 4 years ago.  i was home from college and my friend and i decided to drive to chicago for her to see her bf and me to visit my brother.  well, my friend and i decided we should all meet for dinner.  so my brother, his girlfriend and i met up with my friend, her boyfriend and his roommate (my SO).  when i got to the restaurant i barely talked to my SO.  then we all went out to the bars except my brother and his girlfriend didn't go.  so my friend and her boyfriend were together the whole night, so then i was left with my SO.  we had a good time, but nothing to write home about, in fact, i remember i was flirting with other guys too.  well, the next day i left to fly back to school and my SO asked for my phone number, and i was thinking to myself, "why is this guy asking for my phone number?!".  i wrote it on a piece of paper and left.

well, we talked occassionally, then a lot, then a three months later, i was flying to chicago to see him! but i didn't know how things would be, we had built a relationship over the phone, but more of a friendship.  well, the week was amazing, i even did the cheesy, tear running down the cheek when i left him at the airport...

we dated LONG DISTANCE (yikes) for over 3 years.  now i am living with him (sooo happy) and i recently i found the original piece of paper that i had written my phone number on (cute).

the bad thing is, that my friend and her boyfriend (who are the reason i met him) are no longer together (and kinda bitter that i'm with my SO still )

it's crazy how things work out....

Maddie - that's the weirdest meeting story I've ever heard! Drunk hit on to stalker to dating. It has it all. I think it's a bestseller.

Collette - so cute! "I needed a lime."

Here's my story and it all started like this:

I was at a posh art gallery opening in town. I was admiring a painting and he was admiring me from across the room (so I say!). I saw him but kept my distance because I was with a guy friend. We snuck glances at each other all night but never met one another. That was a Friday. Saturday during the day I was at this wine/coffee bar near my house reading another Wodehouse and drinking a glass of wine. It was one of those great Texas days that only come at the beginning of spring. I was laughing out loud (of course - Wodehouse is freaking hilarious). He came outside and sat at a table next to me. When I stopped reading to drink some wine, he asked what I was reading. So cheesy, no? I showed him and he's actually read Wodehouse before! I was shocked and impressed. We chatted a bit but I had to go so nothing big. That night I went to a bar downtown to see some band my friend wanted to see. Guess who was the guitarist for the band? And man could he rock! When the show was over, I *bumped* into him and we had a "hey I know you" moment. We were both drinking a bit and I guess he had the nerve to ask for my number since we seemed to hang out at all the same places. Turns out he's a professor by day and a musician by night. We've been together ever since. It's almost too good to be true.

Oh wait, it is too good to be true! You mean that perfect set up never happened? And that perfect guy doesn't actually exist? Shit. I knew something was off. I guess it's back to the bar, the bottle, and hot, hot sex with boys I don't want to take home to dear, old dad.

I couldn't help myself. All these cute and endearing stories (except for Maddie - that one's cute and weird )? I had to put in my two cents, albeit with a dose of imagination.

Its a long but cute story if you can bear with me. I met my bf almost 6 years ago in Vancouver (about a 12 hour drive from my town). I was there visiting friends and he was there on tour with his band. My friend convinced me to go and see this band, so I went and proceeded to get smashingly drunk and dance with my brother. Anyway, the guitar player was sooo hot and I really wanted to meet him but I was too shy/drunk/lame to go up to him b/c I thought he looked like a "Mr cool-guy" and I didn't think he'd be interested in me. Anyway I met a bunch of his friends that night and it turned out we were all from the same town and we had a bunch of mutual friends.

Once we were all back in town, they played another show and I went and tried to look my cutest. He finally came up and talked to me and we totally hit it off but he never asked for my number. So at the end of the night I was totally bummed. However, I did tell him where I worked and the next day he showed up there and asked me out to dinner. Half an hour later I got fired from that job. After that I totally didn't want to go but my mom convinced me to and we ended up having an amazing time. And so we have been togeather even since.

However, had someone told me 6 years ago that we'd still be togeather now I would have laughed in their face. I was a 20 year old party girl and all I wanted was to get it on with him. Strange how life turns out....
