We're doing Elmo this year. I've already got the decorations and am ordering some balloons. I'm thinking we'll have red velvet cupcakes and punch but are you supposed to do some kind of games yet? and any suggestions for good party favors?

Having a two year old myself, I think their attention spans are too short for any real structured games. I think a few activities might be a better choice. For one party I did have a plastic bowling set I got at Target and that was really popular with the kids. They also just liked to kick around regular air filled balloons and dance to some kiddie music.
For party favors bubbles and stickers are always a favorite.
a agree with cahabo. your probably better off doing some simple games and activities, like coloring, cookie/cupcake decorating (the kids would just add sprinkles etc.), finger painting (depending on how messy you want it), outdoor activities like races, kickball, catch, those kind of things. for my two year old, we just blew up a bunch of balloons and then everyone had fun playing with those and then we gave everyone a helium balloon to take home. i think the bubble idea is great, too. or maybe some of those big bouncy balls.

Thanks guys I like both the bowling pin idea and the decorating their own cupcakes. I was just at Target yesterday and picked up some bubbles and fun colored sunglasses from the party aisle. I'll have to look for a bowling set next time I'm there. I'm sure that would be fun anytime lol. Thanks again!

We did the Elmo party last March for Camille's 2nd birthday. We actually had a cupcake cake made at a bakery shaped and iced like Elmo's face. It was really cute. I will see if I can find the picture. We also did one activity. It was a coloring activity to color Elmo and glue a pom pom for Elmo's nose.
For favors, we did the typical random goodie bag of Elmo junk (which I hate b/c everyone does it) but we did burn a fun c.d. of kids music for all the guests to take home.

I'm planning Hayden's 2nd B-day party for next month and I was wondering the same thing. But I think I'm just going to have a few little "stations" set up where the kids can play. He's having a "HOT ROD" theme party since he's head over heels for Drag Cars. It's in his blood! My husband, his brother, and about 15 of their uncles drag race and we have all of the classic Chevy's in out family. Hayden eats, sleep, & drinks racecars. He thinks every "older model" vehicle is a racecar. It's hilarious!! So, I see it only fit for Hayden that he has a Hot Rod theme party. It's not as easy to find things though, everything is either Hot Wheels or Nascar, I'm wanting classic cars so I'm on the hunt!! I love a challange. For favors, I'm giving our lil' hot rods & hot rod stickers (so far). I found some HOT ROD ducks that I might do too!!
