My mother just had knee replacement surgery and she's concerned about her scar. Does anyone have something they recommend to use to minimize scaring? Thanks
The best thing she could do would be to see a plastic surgeon. Usually you can get some laser procedures which will greatly reduce the appearance of scars.
IME, none of those scar-fading products they sell over the counter work.
How recent was her surgery? Keeping the incision moisturized heavily once it's healed helps alot, as does taking vitamins while it's healing. Not letting them remove the sutures too early helps too - my scars from knee surgery are bigger because they took them out a few days too early.

I have had 3 knee surgeries and have used vitamin E oil on the incisions after all of them and found it helps with fading the scars. Nothing completely removes them, but staying out of sun and using the vitamin e oil lightened them significantly. From a distance people typically don't notice them on me.

I've used silicone sheets with good success on scars. They are basically a thin piece of silicone that you stick down over the scar. They range from ones that are termed medical grade I think to ones you can buy at a pharmacy - I think Neosporin makes some. Anyway there is a whole page of different ones here and some info on how they work:
