That guy cracks me up. He looks at the camera for a second like "is she really doing this here and now?" and then just shrugs and goes back to business.

Tina, she's giving a rambling interview about how brutal and inhumane politics can be, while she's standing in front of a pen of turkeys. Meanwhile the worker in the background shoves live turkeys upside down into a funnel-shaped device that immobilizes the bird so it can be decapitated, with the blood and the heads dropping into the basin below (literally, it's a bloodbath). Then the worker picks up the dead birds by the lifeless legs and takes them off camera somewhere. By the way, the killing happens right in front of the live turkeys still in the cage, which has to be highly traumatic. Turkeys don't mate for life like some birds, so at least they aren't forced to watch their mate be killed.
Anyway, it's highly ironic and nauseating at the same time. Just like politics.
This is actually one of the "better" slaughter methods, by the way.
Palin was there to do her gubernatorial duty of pardoning a turkey - as if the TURKEY did something wrong - and of course to pick up her main course for Thanksgiving dinner. So she clearly knew what went on there, but she may not have been completely aware of what was happening behind her. She's a hunter, so perhaps the foul smells of blood and gore don't even register with her anymore.
What annoys me is how many news outlets apparently blurred out the background because they think people shouldn't see the truth about dinner or something.
