Hi girls! It's gotten cold here, with harsh winds at night when I get back home. And I came down with a nice and strong cold/flu (still not totally recovered). So yesterday, after shower, I noticed the skin of my face was ALL flacky! Not only around my nose (wich is normal, due to all the nose blowing I did these last days) but also on cheecks and forehead. I put some cream and it's better now, but I'd like some suggestion for scrubs. I need a very delicate scrub, since my skin is very sensitive, especially after the cold, if it is home made is ok, otherwise hopefully not too expensive (as in canel or lancome).
Aspirin scrubs are supposed to be good. I think Elle uses them. I would do a search for aspirin scrubs on here and see what you turn up.
I'm no beauty expert, but I don't think I would use any scrubs until the flakiness is cleared up. I know it seems counter-intuitive to not just scrub all the dead skin off, but I would keep it really well moisturized until the flakiness is gone.

A scrub may agravate the dryness right now - so I would use something to give your skin extra moisture, then use a scrub in another week or so when it has calmed down.
Look for a concentrated form of vitamin E (they sell it at drugstores) and put that on before your moisturizer at night time.
My noes gets *really* bad when I have a cold. I swear I'm a snot machine because I blow my nose every 5 minutes. Anyway, the first thing I do is make sure I'm using the tissues that have lotion in them. Then, I put vaseline all over the dry, scaley parts before I go to bed, and in the morning I gently scrub the vaseline off with a washcloth. It's gentle and really helpful. good luck!

Sounds like you need a better moisturizer. Ever since I started using Artistry Hydrating System I never get dry anymore. They also have a super gentle scrub for any type of skin with microbeads. I used to use St. Ives and it is way too harsh. HTH!
Just keep moisturizing and use something extra gentle for exfoliating like Olay daily facial cloths. I had dry skin issues all the time until I added Clinique Super Rescue antioxidant night moisturizer. I use it in the day and night on top of my regular moisturizer. It's the best ever and has made a huge difference when I apply makeup! It's on the expensive side, but you can always ask for a sample to try which should last you two weeks.
Second the coconut oil! I have super sensitive skin and that stuff works wonders. I keep a bottle in my shower. Hehe. It really helps seal in moisture and absorbs relatively quickly. I use it on my face, too, and it doesn't clog pores.
